This isn't the usual braindance/techno influenced tracks that I do.

This one has been influenced by Autechre and how they work rather than sounding like them.

I like how their tracks are fluid and I know that transitions and alternative parts are weaknesses of mine so I've tried to work on that.

Any points positive or negative appreciated as always.

Cheers!

I spotted this on Soundcloud earlier today. I really like it! Sound design-wise this a gem. I wanna cut it up into pieces and use it for fx in a track ;D

Love it!

yeah man this sound great, although i have a little suggestion, it sounds like there's this general reverb in all the sounds, not saying you have just one reverb for the entire track but that' how it sounds like to me, like all the sounds are on the same place/distance from me, i would take out some of the reverb on some of the sounds to bring them forward in the mix and therefore closer to the listener, know what i mean? e.g. a reversed whoosh dry sound followed by a transient one full of reverb... the suddenly change i the end of the track, where melodies come in, is beautiful, really good job!

Good points. I did use separate but similar reverb levels but agree that it would be better where there were parts with none to help with the dryness/distance of the sound. Will remember that for next time.

Thanks for noticing the ending. I wanted to have something a bit more melodic in there somewhere and really liked that as an ending so kept it in!

Couple more things I've been working on today.

TIMJ - Took into account what you said and purposely left off the reverb from some of the sounds in this one and I think it gives it a better, spikier edge.

Squee - You'll probably prefer this even if it's a bit simple, I like this track a lot.

I like it! It sounds like the saddest train ever.

Those fragmented noise samples or whatever they are remind me of William Basinski's Disintegration Loops. I definitely wouldn't mind if the sad train got filtered out at one point to give some of those nice ambiences in the background some room.

Nice, I hadn't considered the train aspect but it does sound like a distant, melancholic train :)

Funny that you mentioned Basinski. I was thinking similar when I was listening to it. I have to be in the right mood for his work though.

I might remake a longer version. Any tips for ambient bar filtering?

Just use a filter that doesn't do any sweep effects and you're good to go. And if you high pass it then slowly add reverb to the remaining audible frequencies as they get filtered out ;)
