3. kyu shotokan. been slacking off somewhat since i dislocated my left middle finger during randori 1 1/2 years ago, bif of a downer since i'm also trying to learn the guitar :P. (more of a kata gaylord anyway).

trained south shaolin kung fu style for 5 years and some tae kwon do before that

national amateur boxing shampion @ age of 17 and blue belt in taekwondo at the same time

i did karate and judo until i was what, 12 maybe...

twasn't a long time ago since i'm only 16...

Took taekwondo, shaolin kung fu, and shoshinryu jiu-jitsu in my early college days. I was generally shit at them.

Taekwondo apparently gets clowned by those in other disciplines, but then again its primary purpose is being an Olympic sport. AFAIK grappling arts like judo and aikido are considered more practical than striking arts, as they teach you to disarm an assailant in close quarters, as opposed to merely trying to beat the shit out of them. The latter is obviously futile against ballistics anyway, as the Boxer Rebellion proved.

Taekwondo is a great fighting sport IMHO no problem with it. The problem with martial arts / boxes is that you have to find a good teacher, In France this is pretty hard, lots of poser and bullshit. I think that grappling is the most effective, brasilian jiu jitsu is the ultimate style.
