Braintree
This performance features tons of off-kilter beats, resonance, and odd atmospheres. Quote '16E8C02' is a recording of a performance in San Francisco, CA on 2/24/2018 at Hyde Street Studios. This performance uses a homemade xenharmonic tuning system built from an array of delay units. Percussion and other elements are given pitches based on specific delay speeds. Gammy Bits
The sound palette from "Xanatos Gambit" across 8 tracks. My favorite! Goiter Sanchez
I really love how thorough and disciplined you are in exploring this tuned drum delay aesthetic! I really haven't heard much else like it at this level. Very satisfying listening experience, especially on headphones! There's a few COH albums which sound similar (but different enough from 16E8C02): https://cohemego.bandcamp.com/album/retro-2038 https://cohemego.bandcamp.com/album/to-beat It's a really niche sound I wish more artists would explore. Braintree
Thanks for the kind words, gents! I'm definitely aiming to explore this sound further and intend on building a hardware set, but it may have a very different sound. We'll see how that works out. On 8/1/2018 at 12:20 AM, Extralife said: Second listen — those rhythms are doing my head in. Pretty impressed this was performed life. Care to elaborate on your methods? In a nutshell, I'm running a bunch of beats programmed in Ableton Live and each track has a delay unit with a specific delay speed. I'm messing with plugins the entire time and trigger things with an APC40. Also, some of the ambient stuff is a Novation Bass Station II put through some effects. When I started this, I was just doing what came naturally, so the beats are pretty weird just because it's how my body naturally wants to move. If the room is the right shape, it fills with resonance and feels like a massage. Braintree
A few of you were kind enough to recommend this album in the 2018 Album of the Year nominations thread. Just bumping this so others will know about it. Braintree
If you wanted to own this album on physical media, then you're in luck! This album is getting a cassette release through Schematic on 2/21. Glad to finally be able to announce this. The designer Raphael Arar and I worked on the design for the tape and it looks pretty cool, imho. The tape also comes with a couple bonus tracks. Here is a video that was made by the talented Maria Mendes to help celebrate the occasion. auxien and ManjuShri 2 Thanks Haha Confused Sad Facepalm Burger Farnsworth Big Brain Like × Quote Hide Braintree's signature Hide all signatures colindyer.bandcamp.com williamsbraintree.bandcamp.com Link to comment https://forum.watmm.com/topic/95496-colin-dyer-16e8c02/#findComment-2765253 Share on other sites
