i've enjoyed the few RFF tracks i've heard well enough, but yeh i can never quite shake the feeling that it's all very calculated

It is, main reason I posted this, was way better than I would have ever expected. Hearing this convinced me to check out the new album.

I liked his earlier stuff just fine but didn't think it stood out from any of his other lo-fi house peers. I was skeptical when Brainfeeder signed him but this explains why they did - definitely branches out from his earlier work and to me it's more in the realm of Gold Panda or the other beat scene stuff that has been put out by Brainfeeder, Ghostly, labels like that - Lapalux, Shigeto, Teebs, Nosaj Thing, Four Tet, etc.but without losing the house influence.

Only listened to a couple preview bits from Boomkat, not sure I'll have much to say but before I forget I wanted to point out that the cover art is ugly trash. Purposefully so, I'm sure (I hope), but yeah.

For real, how is the majority of WATMM so out of the loop about Ross? His Lobster Theremin EP's have been pretty great, his Brainfeeder and more stuff (the EP befoer this at least) is a bit different, but it's still heavy on the lo-fi house vibe, just a bit more downtempo and plays up the R&B influence, but not excessively, it's still pretty funky stuff... I'm curious to hear this one.
