Premier League 2018/2019

Recommended Posts

Season starts in a couple of days so let’s hear your thoughts/predictions/wild fantasies (though nothing about threesomes with Ashley Cole please).

Mine: Citeh to retain the title, a tough slog between United, Spurs, Chelsea, Liverpool for the 2-4 spots.

Mid-table, feel as though Everton and West Ham have some some good business in the transfer window (shortening it in a World Cup year was a bit silly), so might prove tough competition for Arsenal, who I think will struggle post-Wenger (crazy to think he won’t be able to almost sign every up and comer in the PL anymore).

I think Sarri will do a good job with Chelsea.

Spurs I think need to add depth (as do we) or the second half of the season will be a struggle.

^ Best part is that Mourinho is gonna go full Billy Mays this season...

Unrelated 1: I still can't believe that how Kieran Fucking Trippier is suddenly a free kick specialist, mental yet I sure ain't gonna complain   Damn Matrix fucking with us agiiin.

Unrelated 2: Mane's goal today was total boss mode, 70+ yd breakaway with a defender tracking level with him and the instinct to play his touch towards the defender's side; granted dude probably knows he's faster than 99% of backs on the pitch, yet in this particular instant he wasn't, and yet he still managed to bull the defender off and sidestep the keeper... damn.

His balance was incredible, 95% of players would have fallen on their arses when they got to the keeper in that situation.

Very impressive game that, we weren't firing on all cylinders going forward, but even still Salah and Mané caused them all kinds of problems. But we looked so comfortable at the back, Van Dijk was immense, Gomez has made a big step up as a centre back too, has been looking good there since pre-season. Palace put us under a lot of pressure in the second half, but we held up pretty comfortably in the end. Allison looks like he might be worth the cash too, we just look so much more calm and composed around our own box now.

Before pre-season I probably would have predicted the top four as: City, Liverpool, Utd, Spurs (with 2/3 a tight race). Things looking a bit different already though, United scraped past a poor Leicester side who largely outplayed them (couldn't finish their chances), and were atrocious against Brighton. Spurs looking more comfortable than I thought, what with all the late arrivals from the world cup and lack of transfer activity, they're still too weak up front to challenge for the title, but should finish above United unless they turn things around pretty quickly. Chelsea look pretty decent as an attacking force, a bit dodgy at the back but they might have enough going forward to get back into the top four regardless. Arsenal have looked ok in their two games so far, two very difficult games so hard to draw too many conclusions, Emery will probably need another couple of transfer windows to get to where he wants though.

Arsenal really should have spanked Chelsea - the finishing was atrocious, but they sliced open Chelsea's defense with worrying ease (if you're a Chelsea supporter).

We're fucked if things continue on like this. Match against Spurs will be one I'll watch through a misty veil of whisky to numb the depression.

Me late morning was brutal, the telly only had that turd of a Man U game on so I could only follow the score updates flashing in every 30 seconds or so...

0-0 :cerious:

1-0

1-1 :cerious:

1-2

1-2 FT :catbleed:

The masochist in me watched the 'highlights' later on to boot

United game was much more entertaining. Weird to say, considering recent history in terms of style of play.
