What music genre is best suitable for little children?

I'd say it has to be something with a simple chord progression and simple rhythm. Maybe Hip Hop? It always kinda sounded like toddler music to me

My 3 year old son thinks these are good "rock and roll" songs

When were in the car we heard this on KUTX and he got really quiet and did this funny slow tai chi like dance with his arms. He said he was "thinking of baby sister." She was only a few weeks old at the time.

He also like this one we heard on the local college station, called it robot music

Top 40...     ...and AFX. All of these tracks have stopped her melt downs on a dime.

My 15 month old daughter's preferences since 3 months:

Selena Gomez - Bad Liar

Taylor Swift - Gorgeous, Delicate, Call It What You Want

Camila Cabello - Never Be The Same

Bazzi (she calls him Baz Baz) - 3:15, Soarin', Dreams

AFX - Collapse EP

you shouldn't bother playing music specifically for children. I grew up surrounded by lots of jazz / brazilian / african / folk music and I loved it, I remember having very imaginative and idiosyncratic stories and feelings that would accompany different songs and styles of music and it was highly entertaining. Kids soak up everything around them. Give em a big variety of sounds and it enriches their life.

I put on A Tribe Called Quest for my 3 year old nephew and he seemed to like it. He has some slick dance moves tbh

lol it's a classic for me, whenever I need a giggle.

StevieG shitposting aside, with having no children, I'd guess Salv is right - a mixture of music is probably best for kids as they soak everything in.

I gave my little brother a ton of jazz and electronic music from the time he was an infant, some rock etc. He loved the diverse music and is now a wicked sax player (not just because I shared music with him obvs but I think it contributed).

I'd imagine there is some science or pseudo science out there on the topic.
