Rock back and forth / sway side to side

Recommended Posts

When you listen to music do you tend to rock back and forth or sway side to side?

Used to rock back and forth myself but added swaying side to side a few years ago and swayed side to side almost exclusively for a while when I first discovered it. Now I mix it up depending on the genre I'm listening to, how my mood is and maybe the type of crowd I'm in. (swaying side to side has a decisive cockiness, can be almost flamboyant and adds a certain panache that's not always a good idea to be flaunting)

Not asking about bobbing as I feel it's a part of rocking back and forth and/or swaying side to side and people that bob exclusively are super fucked up imho.

Are you talking about at shows or just in general?

At shows, spastic flailing. In general, I guess I'm one of those uber fucked-up people, cause I essentially just do ye ol' head bob.

Having a verb for a name certainly has its ups and downs, amirite? :dadjoke:

This is probably gonna sound nuts but *why* do you rock back&forth/sway side to side/nod your head whilst listening to music ? Even the funkiest bit of funky funk doesn't make me move an inch when listening to it at home ...

There must be more stationary listeners here or am I crazy cray ?

I haven't eaten a Wagon Wheel since 07/11/07... ilovecubus.co.uk - 25ml of mp3 taken twice daily.

At home listening for sure. At shows anything goes. I used to do a lot of dancing at home as well but since a couple of months I have downstairs neighbours that would I don't want to terrorize with incessant tapping. There's the occasional short sock slide.

It's fine to stay stationary of course but I'll definitely move if I'm really feeling something and it seems to create a feedback loop.
