Experimental-ish stuff, thought some of you might be into it. I particularly like the video below.

Whoa, kind of surprised to see this on here. This guy is a font of synth knowledge (check his gearslutz posts on Yamaha FM) and a pretty hardcore PD algorithmic composer. Blog: https://acreil.wordpress.com/

I was kind of surprised to see that no one had mentioned him on here before, I don't think the search I did pulled up anything really. I've seen him on GS yeah, remember getting lost looking through his blog some time back, he's knowledgeable for sure. I've been following him on BC for years but I don't think I've actually got any of his releases, they're usually a little too heady for me. This one may not be though, it seems still a little clinical and conceptual but not too much.

He is my yamaha-phasemodulation-lookup-table-#ofsamples-and-what-not hero. He was mentioned in EKT section a lot though his musical output not so discussed here. Yeah this is kind of person i like a lot on par with Dave Noyze and so on.

I would wholeheartedly agree with this. He's been a friend of mine since around 03-04, in Ye Olde Tefosav Days. We used to hang out and record all kinds of weird gear-monster shit together too. I remember him dragging all kinds of machines into my old place, and the result sounded like Throbbing Gristle doing a set for Uncle Muscles on Adult Swim. He's also the guy I bought my Quadraverb from, which is a total staple in my studio even now. Released a record with him years ago (Eisegetic Waiver) at INSTALL, the label I operated with David Tagg, and he also guest spotted on my One Bleak Try album, for "Vesicant Eyewash"

I would say his recent records from the last year or so have been some of his best work to date. Ansatze is easily up there with AE to my ears. Genius is an understatement.

Yeah so general awesomeness of Acreil aside, this release is probably my favorite thing he's ever done. It's got the same abstract, alien vibes and is nearly devoid of structure but it's so tasty. I'm once again teetering on the edge of taking the modular plunge and listening to this knowing he made it all in PD is killing my GAS.

Acreil for me seems to be one of the few people doing truly interesting things with non 12tet scales and not using xenharmonics/microtones as a gimmick to sell derivative and shallow work.
