While it is debatable whether nor not increased digital interconnectivity between geographical locales and cultures from internets contributes in creating a drab monoculture, I tend to agree with the Autechre guys: I couldn't find the link, but I remember reading an interview where one of them was talking about social media and the importance of social connection at live shows, and he said that people feel like they expressing their individuality on social media, but in reality the firm is 'homogenizing the user base.'

In the city where I reside, there is a beat collective called Raund Haus (https://raundhaus.bandcamp.com/)

I've listened to all of it, and some is meh, but there is some quality music on there. The J0eru album Spellbound is a really cohesive and sonically-nice concept album, albeit with a bit too much side-chain compression for my taste. My favorite of theirs, though, is a playful Hip Hop instrumental album called Kitty Litter, by Dogzamm. The track 'Shoot em Up' is awesome, lot of other excellent tracks on there as well.

I was kind of curious if anyone else had something similar, some local music to share that we all would not otherwise be privy to?

I used to play with these guys called Pinebox in Columbus, OH. The "band" was basically just a bunch of people in the scene with one guy at the helm. People used to just show up randomly and we would bang out tunes collectively. Lots of different compositional voices happening throughout each song.

This sounds like it was fun as hell! Just put on the 2014 cassette, the first song sounds like a collab between Giorgio Moroder and godspeed you black emperor lol. Really cool mix. Enjoying this so far, thanks for sharing.

Thanks! P-Type is probably the best one on there, but there are like another six albums that they never put up. Not sure why. The main guy has kids now so he's pretty busy these days.

I kind of like that song even though there are some awkward moments in there.

It might be the dead pan Finnish humour that sounds like awkwardness. Their riding the kind of weird edge between the emotional and the humorous that is styled after the Finnish pop group Leevi and the Leavings and movie maker Aki Kaurismäki (hence the Le Havre poster I guess).

The song narrator is having all kinds of minor problems (and drinking cheap beer and abusing her grandmother's cough medication..) but she doesn't feel so bad for herself because the boys of Sudan can't even get drunk and there's only been rumours about the person delivering free condoms, etc.

thanks! this context makes the song better on second listen. Felt bad for the grandmother, prolly needing to re-up on cough syrup and all.
