fuck it, I'll bite, this sounds decent and these singles sound better than the ones that came out for Born in the Echos

I don't geek out for the CBs as much as I did 10-15 years ago but their EBW 12" series still have a bite to them and they've aged well without selling out to gimmicky EDM tropes like many others of their standing would likely be tempted to do. From what I've read they sit on a lot of material and kind of pick and choose what bits they like instead of forcing themselves to write tracks for each album. Goes hand in hand with their live set workflow. I suppose this is partly how they still sound engaging.

Interesting choice for the cover art, looks like cold war era Dutch or German tank on maneuvers

I like the two singles.

The Brothers have still got it, especially live. This sounds more psychedelic than the past 2 albums, and that artwork whiffs of nostalgia.

Pre ordered and at least this got a thread whereas the Prodigys latest album didn't....

Agree. Those singles sound better than their last few of efforts. Hopefully the rest of the album doesn't descend into dull and forgettable b-sides.

incomplete wihout surface noise

I ought to check that out, I haven't listened to any of their stuff since the The Dirtchamber Sessions Volume One

Unfairly or not I haven't checked out their stuff since I gave Always Outnumbered, Never Outgunned a skim in college. That same year Fatboy Slim put out Palookaville and it was also a big letdown. Fatboy Slim fell back in DJing. I feel like the Chems were at their weakest point as well but they gradually got back.

Have the last few Prodigy albums incorporated future bass / or dnb stuff? - I feel like dubstep and all of it's offshoots help shake off the trend of trance and then electro house that seemed to be the deathknell of big beat back in the early 00s (which ironically is when I got into it). modern EDM seems to channel a lot of the loud arena crossover appeal big beat had originally, it would make sense if Prodigy has been able to fit back in style wise

There is some creative production, but I cant really get that into the tunes themselves. You can still feel some of the soul of the older chemical brothers. But meh.

I haven't really listened to an entire Chemical Brothers album since Come With Us... singles I've heard in recent years were all kinda weak, "Free Yourself" does seem to harken back a bit to their more psychedelic early stuff though. Their first 3 albums are still classics.

Sounds like someone's been training an AI to make Chemical Brothers tunes.

I imagine the people who still listen to them will continue to listen to their first 3.5 albums instead.

They've mentioned they archive all of their alt takes and outtake studio bits and revisit them when producing new tracks. Makes sense if these tracks seem like they are generating themselves.

^ ah, god how did I miss that

fun fun fun on the autobahn

fahren, fahren, fahren!

I'll def give them a chance, and if it beats their last few dull efforts then I'll buy it out of loyalty. Hope it goes more oldskool which the possible kraftwerk reference might imply. Can't listen to the samples yet.
