It's not racist, it's satire but I agree there's no way it'd be released today without a barrage of overblown twitter and music journalism hysteria.

This track alone is truly one of those special songs that literally ushes in an entire era of progressive pop music, and cliche as it sounds it was way ahead of it's time 

gradually I remember hearing it's sound creep into mainstream hip-hop and pop and it was easily a good 10 years before it's impact aftershocks were finally done. even now so much indie electronica or crossover experimental / avant-garde music that PFork and others pick up on seems indebted to this one single

It has such a weird encoded sound to it. Equation too. Like it’s at 22k. A lot of people assumed it was a Kyma system and it seems possible but Im leaning more towards a Techno’s Acxel now that richard mentioned owning one in a sound cloud comment. It seems likely that he could feed all sorts of sounds through it and get that weird aliasing sound.
