I guess it means it is cheaper that if it came assembled?

It allows for a synth you can safely modify without having the requisite soldering skills...

I think it sounds ace!! It looks like it'll be cheap. Great to mess around with on the go to create lush sounding Arpeggios and once you plug in a midi keyboard you can really rock and roll lol. I really want one.

My sentiments exactly/kinda. Would've been a lot more interesting if it would have involved some basic soldering.

the korg minilogue xd and the korg prologue let you load in user written oscillators and effects, which people can then share for free or sell using whatever distribution they choose. that whole side of things is called ‘logue sdk’.

this kit pretty much gives you access to a one voice, one oscilllator synth, that lets you write code for the user oscillator / user effects stuff, which can then be re-worked into the ‘logue sdk’ stuff for the minilogue xd and prologue.

its a way to try and get more people into the user written stuff for their current line of synths at a low entry point.

See, this I get. A cheap programmable digital synth is nice enough - though I would argue that's a pretty saturated market already with Reaktor, PD and everything else.

Clicking parts together only make sense if you can swap them out for different ones. As far as I can tell, that is not the case here.
