I'm guessing he loves the original too much to make a proper remix. Even for armin van Buuren. This is like some obvious radio edit where the original got a four to the floor and a load of echo to make it sound big. The crowd will prolly like it. I wouldnt call it bad. But i quickly lost interest while listening...

Fucking hell. Vocals are terrible in the original but this remix puts emphasis on the shouty qualities that make me dislike them so much in the first place. There's zero groove or syncopation or whatever, sounds like someone got a bunch of tracks that happened to be in the same key (except for the vocals, it's just some hoarse voiced dude shouting) and  tried to make it work somehow. And then there's all the ear raping edm tropes.   

One thing going for Armin Van Buuren though, he comes across as a proper lovely chap and doesn't seem to take the whole EDM scene too seriously. In my mind he's always doing this:

That's the thing right? I really don't mind the Armin van Buurens and the likes. They often seem to generate good vibes and large crowds. Some of it I can even dig. But that's mostly while doing sports. When you need that good energy. It's the marvel comic movies of films, I guess. You shouldn't expect a David Lynchian Marvel movie. And you shouldn't blame it for being a comic movie. (although it can be bad! even for a comic movie)

Absolutely. Armin is capable of much better.

Some of his late 90s / early 00s stuff was incredible. Even the vocal "cheesy" trance was good back then.

Now I want to see a fucking Marvel movie by David Lynch. Straw Man perhaps?

Twin Peaks season 3 came close to a DL doing a marvel comic. Rewatch the 3rd season! ;p
