Bought a Kawai K1!!!! :o

Any users here on the forum? Has some very nice pads. I had a decent play with it yesterday. Its a big old synth well biggest synth I've ever owned!! Anyways check out some videos of me playing it badly ha ha. One thing I noticed is that nothing seemed to change when using the joystick or am I missing something??? :0

I had one in the 90s, it was ok!

Looking at the manual it seems you have to press the 'stick' button (bottom right button on the top keypad) and choose to specifically enable it via the menu

I've had a K1M for years, love it.

And yeah., you have to manually turn the stick on every time you power it up, it doesn't save that setting for some reason.

It's apparently very easy to add CV control of the stick but I never bothered.

My friend I used to jam with has one. It was one of our go-to synths in the studio.

Global Communication used it in 76 14 and you can definitely hear it!!

you can find sysex dumps of all the Kawai expansion cards (IIRC Kawai officially released them as free downloads even), and it's worth checking them out because you can ho a lot deeper with that thing than the simple architecture makes it seem like you could.

Wow that's awesome. All I need is a laptop and some proper studio space and I can do what you've suggested!!!

Just had a play with it in the last few hours again. Jamming some B12 / Stasis type chords!!!
