modey
Hey guise lets talk about guitars. As you may know I'm getting back into playing again, and also experimenting with different tunings. At the moment on my acoustic I've tuned it right down to AEAEAA (basically A5) with the two high A strings being slightly out of tune with each other, for a chorus-y sound.. Sounds awesome for drone stuff, and the thick strings handle it well. And since it's neither major or minor, it becomes more flexible than usual open tunings! Excellent. I've also got one of my electric guitars tuned to CGCGCC, pretty much the same thing but I use it for metal. EFFECTS! What are some good guitar effects to buy? I want a really awesome reverb, something that can have the dry completely taken out, maybe a rackmount unit could do this? Guest aeser
tunings: for the rock/everything "normal" stuff i do i tune normally to E for the grindcore bands i play in i tune everything down to C, i used to tune to A but it was too mushy and no note definition, sounded heavy, but couldn't make out the riffs too well so i went back up to C which is the perfect mix of heavy and actually being able to make out the riffs. effects: electro harmonix makes some fucking awesome shit. there's also some boutique pedal makers out there who are pricey but who's shit kicks ass, pedalman comes to mind but i can't find a currently working website for him. I also have a Samick strat clone, a cheap warlock clone and the aforementioned acoustic.. Oh, and my girlfriend's Yamaha bass, which sounds pretty nice through my Zoom pedal.
