Machine Girl - MG DEMO DISC

"Hi. It me again. Y’all are probably already aware but I just released 14 demos on a new release called Demo Disc. I think I might release more of these down the line as I have a shitload of material I’m sitting on from the last few years. If y’all dig it of course. Anyway I thought it might be cool to give you a lil insight into what era each track came from:

1. Intrusive [2017 Demo] - I made this very early in 2017 when still coming up with track ideas for BIYAAHEYSF. I forgot about this track pretty quickly and when I rediscovered it a few months ago I was like WTF this is crazy sounding. Unfortunately the project file was lost with my laptop that was stolen in 2018 so I couldn’t go in and keep working on the track. I think this one is super cool though and it kind of inspired me to throw this whole thing together so I thought it would be fitting to open up with it.
2. 4TinFollim [2018 Demo] - This was one of the first things I made after finishing the MRK90 MIX and taking a hiatus (for a week or two) from making anything because I was so burnt out from making that mix, touring, and finishing BIYAAHEYSF only a few months earlier. This was going to be on MRK90 MIX 2 but I could never figure out how to really develop this without it losing its initial charm. I still love the basic loop of this one a lot.
3. Shaye Saint Massive [2019 Demo] - This is another MRK MIX VOL 2 outtake. I really like this one and have wanted to make a shaye tribute track for a long time, I got sick of it though and it just has been sitting around on my computer for the last year. The end of it goes off IMO.
4. Machine Legion [2014 Demo] - I started this track with the intention of collaborating with my friend (and roommate at the time) LEGION — but I just made this loop and then never showed it to him I don’t think. I always liked the melody n way it develops. I added some extra sub to it last night tho n think I fucked it up a lil bit lol OOPS.
5. There’s Acid in my Mezcal PT 1. [2018 Demo] - Another MRK MIX VOL 2 outtake. I started this loop when working on the ugly art and always liked the melody that comes in about a minute or so into the track. Felt like overall it’s kind of meh.
6. Generic WLFGRL Era Jungle [2014 Demo] - self explanatory
7. The Windows [2017 Demo] - I made this late into writing BIYAAHEYSF. I got lost in the sauce though and didn’t know what to make of this track so I just dropped it at the last minute. I think the mixing is wonky in places but there are some really cool and inspired moments on this track. I think if I had made it earlier it would have ended up on BIYAAHEYSF for sure.
8. Postgem Shit [2015 Demo] - this is probably the toughest of all the demos on here but I still kinda like it for some reason. I made this after finishing Gemini and I was in a really fucked up headspace and everything I made at the time was kind of shit lol.
9. Acid in My Mezcal PT 2 [2019 Demo] - tried to make some kind of dark reggaeton shit... I always felt it was a lil cornier than I wanted it to be... or maybe that the sound design wasn’t super strong or interesting so I just stopped working on this track. Another MRK MIX VOL 2 outtake.
10. Fall 2014 Pre Flex [2014 Demo] - a Gemini outtake that I still think develops really well. I remember taking many a bong rip and drinking a lot of coffee when I made this whole thing in one sitting. I always felt like the middle section sounded off and I never knew how to continue it though so it’s just sat on my hard drive collecting dust.
11. Lil Gaia Bounce [2018 Demo] - started this one in the van while we were on tour in 2018. I think it’s fun lil track. It was going to be on MRK MIX VOL 2 but then I was like... nah.
12. Alpha 31 [2019 Demo] - this is the newest of the bunch. The bassline I made on an iPad app called patterning and I built this hardcore track around it. It’s cool but kind of generic or something idk. Still thought it was worth putting out into the world.
13. Zoned [2019 Demo] - I made this one with the intention of kicking off the next MRK MIX but I started to hate this track the more I worked on it. I was kind of going for a shitmat type of vibe on it with going balls to the wall with all the different melodys and changing sections. Now that I’m removed from it a bit more I think it’s cool. The mix could be better though.
14. Palmtree Panic MG MIX [2016 Demo] - started this while in the van in Mexico on our 2016 tour with five star hotel. I think I was gonna try to do a sonic cd remix rp like the JSR one I did but abandoned it. This track is super fun though and I thought it would be a nice way to end this lil collection of demos.

Anyway I have to get back to work on our ACTUAL new shit that I’m very excited about, so keep an eye out for that. And don’t forget to come see us at St Vitus on the 27th or on tour with Code Orange in April!
