Surprised this hasn't been mentioned. An absolute classic from FSOL.

First released 30 years ago, 1990 – Written and produced by FSOL before they became The Future Sound of London. This EP brings together the original recordings of the 3 main tracks released by Mental Cube, while the fourth was released under a different name, it was intended to be a Mental Cube track.

Q – Quickly became a dance floor favourite funky 909 drums and speak n spell top line and big warm strings.

Chile of the Bass Generation – Clanking Breakbeat wig-out. So This Is Love – a masterclass in classic UK House music that sounds so good even 30yrs on.

In The Mind Of A Child – Originally released as Indo Tribe but in fact was intended as a Mental Cube Release – Bouncy heavy bass 909 drums beautifully constructed top melodies.

TRACKLISTING:
  • A1 – Q
  • A2 – Chile of the Bass Generation
  • B1 – So This Is Love
  • B2 – In the Mind of a Child

I believe there might be a CD package with an expanded tracklist coming later in the year, which I'm waiting for. I own all four tracks from here on Earthbeat and The Pulse EPs. Nice to see it's back in print though - apparently they'd had countless requests to reissue 'Q' over the years so finally relented.

I also own these already, but what a E.P, all 4 tracks are superb. I would love some unreleased tracks along these types, from before they became FSOL. Although some where straight up basic rave, tracks like these are a perfect balance of what they became when they turned into FSOL and full on danceable classy rave.

I hope this happens. All these reissues. I'm loving it

Do you have the By Any Other Name album? 17 tracks from the era, with only Visual Attack having been released at the time.

Yes I have that digitally, it's got some good tracks on for sure, I did prefer the Earthbeat compilation overall with tracks like Yage's tracks Quazi - Coda Coma - Theme from Hot Burst & the above tracks from this E.P. I suspect they probably have some more early tracks sitting in the archive, judging from how much music they make in general.

Haha, I can confirm there are a lot of tracks from this era still unreleased. I believe they're trying to find a suitable way to release them, but I'm sure some will be coming along at some point.
