Andrew Weatherall tribute thread

just recently ive decided to explore the output of andrew weatherall. for some reson ive always put off really delving into his output, but ive been rectifying this error. how much did he have to do with primal screams 'screamadelica'? ive loved that album for ages.. his pop record from a couple of years ago is pure gold. the man can write a song..

Mmmm I dunno too too much about him but his two lone swordsmen Tiny Reminders album is absolutely essential.

I got it years ago when it first came out. I was an avid NME reader at the time, well an avid reader of anything musical to be honest, Kerrang, Melody Maker, Select, Vox etc etc. The NME gave it 9/10 (how I remember that makes me laugh). Anyway I bought it the following Monday from Our Price (lol and this) and thought it was complete bollocks. And swapped it for Celtic Frost or something. Either way I picked it up again a few years ago and it is indeed a brilliant album.

So it seems that the NME was right and I was wrong. And that's hard to swallow. Cunts.

but im still listening to 'a pox on the pioneers' and i declare it to be one of the best pop albums ive heard in the past few years. lovely album.

I was assuming people on this board were familiar with the classic albums documentary series. But I guess this is not the case. There is one docu made about screamadelica. It also covers the (huge!) part Weatherhall has in the success of the album.

On the classic albums series: these are a must for any bedroom producer, imo. Especially because of the way the decision making by producers/writers is given attention.

Second the recommendation. I always get stuck watching that program if I stumble on it, no matter what album they are talking about.

Gutted, his sound was fucking immense. 

Prob own more records that this bloke had a hand in than any other artist. Words seem trite, truly gutted.

Full Circle & Sabresonic were unparalleled nights out in a sea of paint it by numbers rrrrrave crap.

Game changers like Weatherall are so incredibly rare, especially these days. Lord Sabre, a salute to you sir.
