What are AFX's favorite tracks of other artists and himself?

Recommended Posts

I'm curious. I remember him mentioning a track of his from the soundclown dump was in his 'top 10' favorites of his own track. It was definitely made in the 90s or even late 80s. And I know "syro u473t8+e" is his favorite off Syro as he mentioned it in YT comments a few years after the album came out, I'd say around 2016 or 2017. When the album was new however, he said his fav off the album was "earth portal". So obviously his opinion changed over time. Curious to know what other tracks he's said are his favorites. In general, not like in countdown format.

syro u473t8+e IS the best track on Syro.

I too am curious about this.  Always interesting to know an artist's opinion of their own work.

That's my favorite too, next to xmas and the circlont tracks. I remember when Syro came out that many people who liked the album thought syro u473t8+e was cheesy and was one of the worst tracks on the album. Though I'd say that track is one of the best mixed tracks I've ever heard when it comes to that pseudo 8 bit aesthetic.

hmmm i wonder aswell

I'm still here.

The thread title says other artists so I think he's obsessed with HVADs Angst.

Also remember him being embarrassed by GAK nowadays...

The final nail in the Syro coffin.

If syro u473t8+e is his favourite track it explains why I just can't get into the goddam thing. All squiggly wiggly rainbow coloured fart noises. I hate that tune ?

All hope is lost!

It is his favorite track off Syro. Based on comments I kinda sorta remember I think most of his favorite tunes (of his) are tracks he did in the 80s/90s.

If one of them is bubblebath then he’s objectively correct

That means if it's not, then his opinion is wrong, right?

From the Artificial Intelligence comp (The Dice Man):

Earliest Influences:

Phonic Bod, Computer World, Mental Telepathy, Industrial Inc, Tomita, Tangerine Dream

5 most influential record labels:

Rephlex, Arptran V Plastic, KK Acid, R&S, Fragile

Top 5 electronic tracks:

K7 Acid by XP4

Astro Blaster by Joyrex 5

Flow Coma by State 808

Synth It by Revelation

Computer World by Kraftwerk

Favourite electronic artist. Why?

AFX, mainly due to the totally new ideas of percussion instead of the 909 etc

He’s clearly a huge fan of himself ?

Tamclap was indeed his favourite off the Sundcloud dump.

I keep wondering how he feels about Drukqs as a whole. Wonder if he cherishes it like a lot of his fans do?

I think his reaction to Joyrex's "quite good" comment shows how much of a personal album it was for him

Listened to it this morning after NTS3 was done.  It was a'ight.  Favourites are so random it seems.  There's probably some strong nostalgic sense it evokes for him.  Don't get me wrong, it's a pretty cool track.  But of everything?  Interesting choice.

Yo it's a prime bop

Def a top 10, maybe even top 5 dump track for me
