Base2 - Lateral

Well, it definitely sounds like Tipper to me:

It's way less technical than Tipper's productions, pales in comparison to the glitchy virtuosity of Jettison Mind Hatch and Forward Escape. I like the downtempo beats and the vaguely Eastern-ethnic melodies on tracks like Through the Looking Glass. I get where you're coming from with the Tipper comparison, the base beats have a Tipperish feel to them (I get even a Massive Attack vibe here and there), but I think that this album has a definite personality of its own as well.

this doesn't sound like tipper to me. a bit spacey and darker than tipper. there's some pretty good tipper copyists out there though... who figured out some of his triplet tricks etc but his stuff is so well produced and mixed/mastered. hard to top him at his own game. 

anyway.. just saw this release in my instagram feed. will have to give it a listen. 

there's a good chance this is Tipper -- Colony is a label he and Mike Wallis set up a long time ago and he has had his productions on there before under pseudonyms. Possibly Base2 is Tipper and someone else, hence the different vibe. But yeah, could well not be. Good album whatever.
