chassis
A Neil Young album that sounds really really Neil Young-ish. I think it's great: https://open.spotify.com/playlist/3j7WzGgjin1NyiOtZEOiMO ManjuShri 1 Thanks Haha Confused Sad Facepalm Burger Farnsworth Big Brain Like × Quote Hide chassis's signature Hide all signatures Reveal hidden contents Link to comment https://forum.watmm.com/topic/99372-neil-young-homegrown/ Share on other sites

Roo
It's enjoyable, but not really 4 star material or something I'd find room for in a NY top 10, his other early-mid 70s stuff is in a different league. Some of the recent live archivals have been mint though. sidewinder
Played it once last weekend while driving with the girlf. Sounded like 70s Neil Young alright. Nothing stood out, but perhaps on subsequent listens. beerwolf
Last few months been on a resurgent NY mission. Spurred on by a thread on the Drowned In Sound forum where fans are reviewing the great bands and artists in musical history. The NY thread in particular has kicked my arse back into gear and pull out a lot of his albums I love, and inspired me to listen to some I have just not bothered with while drifting and discovering pastures new. Psychedelic Pill has melted my brain. And I've always been a huge fan of massive Crazy Horse guitar freak outs and huge distorted, swirling guitar riffs they do like no one else. And yeah the tracks are loooong (a 25min and two 16min cuts) and that is perfectly fine with me. Weld was the first album I ever heard from him and that follows a similar path. I did put Homegrown on but cut after the second track as I realised I wasn't in the frame of mind for this style of Neil. I shall return when I'm more in the mood. By the way, you'll be pleased to know they rated Aphex very, very highly. Seems he has a big following with Indie fans as well. Neil Young currently sitting in second place (how Aretha Franklin is in first I have no idea!) Enjoy https://community.drownedinsound.com/t/how-good-are-they-really-neil-young/39462 https://community.drownedinsound.com/t/how-good-are-they-really-aphex-twin/45777 Some of these guys know their tunes, if you go through most threads you'll find some good stuff to discover (not the Aphex one, as we are obviously masters of this particular domain ) Edited June 26, 2020 by beerwolf Thanks Haha Confused Sad Facepalm Burger Farnsworth Big Brain Like × Quote Link to comment https://forum.watmm.com/topic/99372-neil-young-homegrown/#findComment-2804365 Share on other sites
