ignatius
saw a report similar to this one just a minute ago on PBS. can't find a link to it anywhere. .but essentially same story. people in surrounding neighborhoods living in often toxic air. no accountability. they pooled their funds and bought an air monitor to analyze the air and report it to whoever and also guard their own safety and protect their kids. russia really is some kind of mafia state in a lot of ways. also, obviously russia isn't alone in this kind of behavior. plenty of towns w/chemical plants, oil/gas processing etc in USA are in and out of the news with eco issues and polluted environments. if/when the protests over navaleny end it'll only be a matter of time until they resume for some other reason. such chaos and wholesale abuse of all the things. wondering if a 'piling on' feeling leads to fueling protests in russia. i think it's part of what happens here in USA but of course varies a lot. edit: also, this.
