Up till recently I was using an xp desktop, using live 8 and an m-audio delta 1010 audio interface which connected via old PCI (not PCI-e).

It was a great set up. PC died and I couldn't get it going again so had to dump it. If your pc has PCI slots, you will be able to pick up an excellent top quality interface second hand for extremely cheap as theyre several years obsolete.
