Someone tried to sell Goatse as an NFT a couple weeks ago but it got pulled.

Goatse belongs to The People, motherfuckers.

I knew a guy who listed his "personal disgust with humanity" or something very similar on eBay back in '98 or '99 and it was bid up over $40k before it was pulled because eBay determined that intangible items were a violation of their TOS.  He relisted it with a piece of paper he'd scribbled on included as a "representation of the item for auction" but that got pulled too.

I wonder what he's been up to recently.

ha! No, just your doppleganger ;-P. No, but seriously, I think I'm just... almost functionally illegible when writing. Think that prob carries over into MS Paint land but, also, think that's kind of the charm w/ MS Paint right? Everything looks kind of ... wonky. 

Wish I was a lefty sometimes - seems like every lefty I've every met has been pretty cool/interesting/creative (though imagine it's gotta be a pain in the ass for lots of things)...

There's a small Reddit thread where someone claims they took a screenshot of the auction before it was pulled and is going to sell an NFT of the screenshot, but I don't know if it happened.

In college someone spraypainted the Goatse URL in big red letters on a fence a block from where I was doing my internship.  I probably have a photo of it someplace still, but this was in like 2003 so it was on film.

The goatse page on Wikipedia is probably the best one on the entire site.

Yeah I'm having trouble following, by the logic posited in that there tweet what's to stop anyone with a single generic/indistinct dick pic (probably of a small dick for best effect) from extorting some John Doe this way.  That's some cumthievery level threat right there

I'm not going to read through this whole thread, has anyone mentioned that the whole BuT iT eMpoWerS tHe AAaaaartists thing is kind of misleading because the whole "minter collects royalties on resales" bit is essentially honor system and can be/routinely is avoided by just reselling on a different marketplace (because all of the royalty systems are marketplace-specific).

So right now the only thing that makes this more "empowering" than a Patreon is the massive hype letting people get hundreds of dollars for their animated GIFs.
