Check out Primal Screams Echo Dek, I'm not a huge fan of Gillespies vocals, but here he's drowned out in dub by Adrian Sherwoods production. Killer album.

I remember reading that the sounds Lee Scratch Perry produced in The Black Ark was so ahead of it's time and made with such basic equipment was and remains baffling! No one is sure how he produced such magic.
