Nothing adds up. None of these tracks make sense. There's no lush to speak of. The hi-hats/reverb/programming is bad. It's blatantly sexist. The farty-bass noises are cheesy as fuuuk. The whole story behind this release sounds like it was written by a twelve year old.

 

The original albums were great. This one isn't. I'm tired of feeling like I need to keep checking in to the real chatmm with the hopes that something cool might actually happen or that we will get the old nulls back. I'm just done.

Well I do hope this is real, some of these tracks are sickk. If track 2 really is an Oversteps outtake, I wonder why it didn't make the cut, especially considering how lackluster some of Move of Ten is.

What if it's a deepfake that Saen made with some AI, does that still count as aethentic?

q: some time ago i stumbled upon symbolic sound's claim that you used kyma circa peel sessions 2 (because of that 'cephlaphage' sample in Blifil) and then i started to spot some kyma moments in ep7. how do you find their ecosystem in general? i saw rdj's take that everyone should throw their kymas through the window

a: hilarious. there is a vocal sample in there but that's not it. i never much liked kyma (horrible nested structuring, but it did sound pretty nice). we used it on a few things (second half of left blank, the nightmares on wax remix and the bic remix), and i eventually gave it to daz fitton

This track is on repeat, fucking love it! Why couldn't Oversteps be this good?

It's a great track, for an outtake/oddity, but it's a lot more "dry" sounding than the rest of oversteps. Instruments are simpler and a lot more raw sounding. More harsh and grating overall. To me it sounds like an early experiment with the system they were developing for those tracks.
