I've only listened to the first single and that didn't grab me very much. Loved Utility so I'll give this one a whirl later today

It’s a great label. Skee Mask and Stenny are also priorities to check out if you haven’t already

whole thing is amazing. not sure it’s some focused drum experiments. it just has beats. and good ones. hopefully it’s a precursor to a full length.

Yeah man I’m pretty bummed. I cannot count how many nights I’ve gone to sleep listening to Avec Laudenum. 

Wiltzie has done some great work on his own but something special happened when Wiltzie and McBride collaborated. 

He also kicked off my ongoing years long addiction to Harold Budd.

He was super nice and approachable every time I saw him after their shows.

He will be missed.

Getting back on topic:

Barker makes some subtle music man. His records tend to be growers.

This EP was a big grower for me, but I think Birmingham Screwdriver and Percussive Maintenance are among my favorite tracks he's done.

I'd also argue the EP is a love letter to Warp Records. "Golden Hammer" could easily be a Plaid track. "Birmingham Screwdriver" sounds like a lost Autechre track, or maybe more like the music I wish Autechre would make more of these days.

He always makes the tracks his own, but he's got the level of the talent where I wouldn't be surprised to see him get signed to Warp himself someday.

Discovered this EP thanks to this topic. I like the EP as a whole, but Wick and Wax is such a standout track! Awesome
