this tape didn't get us signed to warp. in fact they sent us a boilerplate rejection letter (something like: 'thanks for the tape, we're not looking to sign anyone at the moment').

after sending a few more tapes and getting those letters back it wasn't until late '91 that we got a call, the track that did it was Crystel.

As I remember the Warp tapes were a compilation of the tracks that didn't make the cut while putting together Incunabula with Warp.

source of the vocals there is apparently Paul Morton, a Baptist preacher Eno/Byrne sampled

autechre is such a fitting title for autechre. it really, really, really does sound like autechre. i'm surprised they achieved this sound in '89, i was expecting a bit of hiphop bollocks but this is pure unadulterated robotic and mad autechreness
