Thanks for all the posts and recommendations! Truly, i didnt expect so many when i first made the topic. Keep em coming.

Here's a beauty:

Church of the Ghetto PC | o9

This album has been posted on this forum and talked about more than most posted already over the years, i think, but I still think it's still wayyyyyy underappreciated, and that's o9's The Church of the Ghetto Pc. There's a ton of reasons why I love this, but I think most importantly it's a total-idm-summation album that highlights and delivers the best of what the genre has to offer, and while making it all consistent and beautiful, in one complete album. Any fans?

Y’all keep going underground. I’ll go “top ten”.

Is it simple? Sure.

Is it dated? Extremely.

Did the big single supersaturate the radio waves? Definitely.

But, this album still gives me legitimate feels like it did when it dropped (at which time I had already been thoroughly steeped in Aphex Twin, Coil, Godflesh, Skinny Puppy, Pigface, Squarepusher, Atari Teenage Riot, Jungle, Gabber and loads of other, much edgier 90s ear candy) and I venture to say that it is all-killer-no-filler gold.

The songs are fundamentally basic, most of which have identifiable, mostly formulaic progressions and are written with the first five chords every kid learns on guitar. However, there is something dreamlike and elusive about the whole record. The lyrics a melodies are direct yet fresh and the lead singer’s vocals are elegantly understated and tastefully effortless. Many of you will scoff and won’t get it but I love this album. It’s quintessentially late 90s and the band likely was signed thanks to every record label snatching up every diy rock trio in hopes of finding the next Nirvana, but I’m grateful.
I’m surprised time hasn’t been more kind to this album. Wikipedia states…

… but haters always gonna hate.

My favorite track is this one:

Hell yes man. I remember listening to the singles that came out on the radio while I was in high school and enjoyed those songs. Didn't discover the album many years later when a friend of mine gave me the cd. Immediately clicked with me. Great vibe chill album, really like the acoustic tracks too.  The next album after this one was decent but this first album gives me memories and feelings of a different time, decades ago.

Yeah I don't think church of the ghetto pc is underrated lol at least not around here, seems to be quite highly regarded/well known.

Not around here, no, which id stated. But elsewhere it is overlooked by a massive amount imo. Like over at rateyourmusic, it has like 50 users having rated and listened to it, in comparison to your aphex twins, autechres, amon tobins, plaid, etc. albums which have 10s of thousands of user ratings each. I think i first discovered it on a random "underrated idm" post on reddit or something. Anyway, i think it should be more well known. Kinda bummed that schematic doesnt have it on their bandcamp anymore. It's definitely one of their finest releases.

One I've enjoyed a lot recently is Vaag's Perfect Imperfection, which came out this year:

Abstract, glitchy idm that point source consistently puts out. His second album came out recently too, which is growing on me a lot.
