Worst Aphex track

I'm really not a big fan of Polygon Window. Quoth is great and classic af but......yeah my least favorite release by Richie Jamz.

I actually love the Classics, maybe the We Have Arrived mixes are a bit too much though. Also love, looove GAK and Polygon Window.

But for me one of the worst is the Popcorn remix from the Caustic Window EPs. It's such a low effort track. jfc

I'd not heard the track before either - Clicking play on the Youtube video then scrolling down to these gifs ..... absolutely spot on - Could practically be the music video for the track !

Its almost another topic in itself but I think the more gimmicky trax (like Popcorn, Pacman, R2D2, Mind The Gap) are more in the category of 'dated badly' than out and out crap. I think the concept of setting breakbeats behind some sort of pop culture phenomenon quickly became old hat, even more so in the age of computers where anybody can do it. They are fun, goofy tracks, with his usual ear for production and structure even if they are a bit shallow and not particularly a show of his skills.

I think Pacman and MTG (tho never released) were basically cash grabs, I suppose that fact alone makes them fair candidates.

i quite like these tracks. MTG and a few others like noddy, fresher+cleaner and SomewhereOTTGBAG really tap into this simplistic but very fun approach, i say that hearing them through the soundcloud dump long after that early 1990s kiddy pop scene. tbf Mind The Gap and especially noddy have a lot more to offer than just a sample, a hell of a lot of originality and solid production going on there.

the Popcorn mix is one very bad exception. very bad sound, cheap and tinny drums, just blatantly ripping off the Hot Butter theme. someone here pointed out that the drums are not synced properly - the melody is starting on one, where it should start on four slightly ahead of the next bar. maybe it's not even aphex? is that possible?

I don't feel the urge to listen to Elephant Song much at home but it certainly does it's job live, he seems to play it out every other gig, a viceral, invigorating thing to experience.

Clayhill Dub is one of those trax where he kind of invents a new genre and then just never revisits it. Its like dub techno, but not Basic Channel style - more like Lee Perry or something. Not the most appealing or memorable track but a definite curio and a successful experiment for me.

Legitimately one of my favorite Aphex Twin tracks ever. It is very lo-if and succinct in composition though so I can see how people may dislike it.

I haven’t listened to the in a while but I don’t recall liking many (if any) of those NQZ tracks off of the Fuji tape. I felt like a dog listening to fireworks when that shit came on. 

Ventolin is probably the worst of the worst because of the shitty tinnitus noise.
That said IMHO 60% of his output is rubbish anyway. 

Unpopular opinion: All Aphex Twin tracks are glorious and perfect.
