Aleksi Perälä - Waves

First new album for six months. All tracks are droney, very ambient. The different sounds fade in and out in "waves". Every track is exactly 5 minutes long. Wonder if its part of a series or a one off?

aallot 🙂

Just stumbled onto this in bandcamp as I realized it's been more than two days since Aleksi released something new. This is perfect.

백호야~~~항상에 사랑할거예요.나의 아들.

Shout outs to the saracens, musulmen and celestials.

This is the first record I've bought from Aleksi in ages, I really like his pure ambient stuff, Contact & Connection really stand out for me in an ocean of Colundi. Something about the medicinal/spiritual properties of the sound shine through once they have been divorced from a club context.

Enjoying it a lot, though I reserve the right to change my opinion once he's released another 12 albums worth of slight variations and the sheen has gone off it.

I am hopeful that like those two albums, this will be a one-off. I also love his pure ambient material - it's so soothing, I can literally feel the stress draining from my body.

The Presence and Colundi 17.5 albums are also in the same vein, and are also great.

I think Waves is a one-off because it doesn't have a number in its title. In the Igloo interview Aleksi said there he had a drone album waiting:

Is there more ambient, Colundi stuff to be released?

Yeah. I really need to do like another meditation album, like drone stuff. There is one as part of Cycles, the album series coming out. It’s older now, it just hasn’t come out. There’s an ambient album at the end of it. And then, there’s another one that I’m kind of saving. I don’t know why, it’s like I’m saving it for a rainy day or something. It’s good to have some things.

Will check this out but I kinda wish he’d make more Mental Unions or something similar, totally overwhelmed by his output

Mental Union releases had more variety of styles of tracks, I’ve heard some of the stuff since and the releases seem more chill

I know some have made compilations which I intend to check out but it has been awhile since a mental union style release

I could be wrong cause there’s just so much music he has released to check out, feel free to point me in the direction of something more mental union

I guess Northern Lights would be closest of his recent output

I think for the forseeable, his output is gonna be an unfathomable deluge of digital releases, then every few years Clone will put out a record compiling the best stuff. It seems to work ok.
