It's a nice track. Nothing mind blowing, but sometimes you just want to listen to a tune and chill out.

Some songs I made with my fingers and electronics. In the process of making some more. Hopefully.

naw, i'd tried out the Last Step stuff at some point and it had some interesting moments but also all felt kinda middling to me. not bad but not anything i felt like returning to. i've tried it all i'm p sure. just not my thing! will bow out of here, wasn't trying to make a big thing.

I didn't love or hate the track. It's fun, has its moments, and still sounds distinctly like a track by him.

I'm sure at least a few of you remember as [borderline] a vsnares fanboy back when, and I truly do miss when he'd release more/at all. Hope the guy's doing alright anyhow.

Yeah, I know it's his thing, but it would have definitely been better without them.

probably a simple thing to open the song in an editor and clip out the vocals.

I almost feel like the ambiguous emotion of the track reflects the feeling about this silly dorky voice... I could be wrong - it's like there's shared fun with the enthusiasm for sounds but also kind of a cringey feeling at the lack of self awareness

"Whoa! Check it out! RO-BIGH-DUHS!"

sigh.. "That's Ribena.."

Is the video in the first post geolocked or something because I only get video not available?

Okay, I'm gonna do it, I'm gonna shit on Aaron. I think he has no emotions. He probably has an ankle deep pool behind his house that he calls the "Venetian Ocean", never really noticing just how utterly devoid of water it is

Positive Metal Attitude

Getting a different feeling from this track listening again, more surreal, I like the bits where the synth doubles up and it goes duddlidurr doodiduuhhhh and he mixes the cheek slap thok thok thok sounds in the drum sounds

Like no emotions as a person or no emotions in the music? In various of his music (not this track) I hear excitement, hilarity, exhilaration, confusion, hatred, terror, strangeness, power, boisterousness, curiosity, beauty, fear, playfulness, sadism (and lots of non-verbal feelings).... so I dunno what you mean, maybe you just don't feel anything when you listen to it because it doesn't strike a chord with you personally - which is fine - I know Snares makes horrible music, I love it but I don't expect anyone else to - it's like when I played Omgyjya-Switch7 by Aphex to a metalhead friend, and they said "can we listen to something with music in it" lol - it was funny because I knew what he meant - he just didn't hear anything musical in it and I got where he was coming from - even if to me the musicality is obvious and relatable

One of the surprising things to me was how much emotion there was in She Began To Cry Tears Of Blood Which Became Little Brick Houses When They Hit The Ground without it having barely any melodic content - it's one of my favourite albums

I've waxed and waned on that album idk why - but I know if he played Ion Divvy or Bezcitny or something in a live set I'd love it, so maybe it's something about the dynamics that make it harder for me to connect to - like it exists in a totally abstract space on the recording when I play it, like kinda detached, which I guess is its nature .. which is maybe why I prefer tracks that totally embrace that like Destroy Glass Castles

ha, honestly you can't talk with a "metalhead" since they only understand "music" as something with distorted guitars and simple power chords... I understand you... That's why again I defend IDM as a true "intelligent" music that can incorporate fuck ton of "music elements" WITHOUT being labeled as something in particular and can be enjoyed by everyone (if they're intelligent).

I dunno, some metal has loads of musical elements even if the distorted guitars are a common element, I love metal - I was into metal way before I was into most stuff. I don't think IDM is "intelligent" necessarily, sometimes it uses complicated elements to make something that feels trippy and weird for example, or like using varied sounds to create a feeling of stress or rushing as another example, and trippiness or stress are things lots of people can relate to, whether they are intelligent or not. It does get labelled, as "IDM". My friend I think meant more that to him, music is conveyed in comprehensible passages of melodic notes, where there is a continuous focus or sequence. Also, I don't think it can be enjoyed by everyone - most people don't like it at all

I say "intelligent" in a sarcastic way, but I also believe any type of music can be enjoyed if you truly, deeply, listen to it. Personally I love many types of music, but I don't call myself an IDM-head, or metal-head, or cumbia-head—each one has its element, its culture, its narrative, etc. That's why when I hear people say "uhm, no, Aphex Twin is pure noise" I think they don't really listen to the art itself, and just what they are used to, or what someone told them to like. I really laught at "metalheadz" since, despite it being a "culture", it's too limiting and ego-driven with rudeness and le satanic power of metal and stuff. Now, I do believe there are certain types of music that UNIVERSALLY can be liked by anyone, and UNIVERSALLY can be hated by anyone, but CAPITALISM makes people like the type of music that UNIVERSALLY should be hated, like trap-pop or stuff like that.

No but he wasn't saying it was pure noise lol he literally just said "can we listen to something with music in it" - but not in a sarcastic or mean way, he was very earnest and innocent about it haha, that's just how he is (when I say what I think he meant, that's my understanding of how he was hearing it)  - and I think metalhead just means metal enthusiast - a lot of metal people are not ego driven and rude and satanic power and stuff, they are more like excitable puppies for whom metal is like an exciting rollercoaster and a fun exploration of talent - I have known some more kinda competitive macho metal guys who can be a bit more irritating, but even the competitive macho thing can be funny, if it's not hostile to outsiders. As for trap-pop, I dunno, I never paid any attention to it - I bet some of it is fun - I feel like pop is pop, whichever genre it's derived from. I bet even in communism most people like music I'd find boring or annoying, but some people only care about the lyrics and the catchy hook, and the familiar structure is all they need to enjoy it. I don't really hate hardly any music - except maybe Ed Sheeran, which is probably a dated reference now, but when his songs are on Smooth radio at work, I just want them to stop forever - I don't know why though, I'm sure he's a fine person - some of the music I like is made by people I'd not want to be in 8 feet of. But I dunno, that Marvin Gaye ripoff song, god just KILL ME when that song is playing, idk why

It's .. ok, I guess. I can see the comparisons to Tuss and early 2000s Aphex, but some Aphex tracks of that era also sounds like early 1980s synthpop, so whatevs.

I think this Vanity 6 track from 1982 produced by Prince comes pretty close to some of the Tuss tracks, soundwise that is. But I think generally that era before DX7 and FM synthesis you have that kind of rougher monosynth and modular sound in synth pop.
