Guest welcome to the machine

I made a track inspired by squarepusher a couple of years ago, and it's the most flowing and beautiful track i think i've ever made...

I never finished it, but it's just sitting on my hard-drive waiting to be listened to so i thought i'd share it with you lovely peeps.

it's very ambient, with complex beats and a simple bassline (real bass! :ok: :omg: ) and a sound carved from white noise that sounds like breathing. I'd love you lot to check it out because even though I've made 100 better and more complex tracks it's still the one i go back to and think... man, that was it.... just for the first section.

have a listen!

"pearsquasher" literally made me lol, that would be a fantastic parody electronic music name

nice track as well!

Hey, cheers everyone for the great comments, i'm glad i've finally done something to share this track as it's been sitting on my HD for three years or something!

A Man Who Looked like you - yeah, there actually is a guy who calls himself pearsquasher who dj's electronic music i think (he may be a producer as well...), but i claim first rights to the name :wink2:

promo - yeah, it's not really a sound-like, more an inspired-by. it was one of the first tracks I done where i got the drums sounding varied yet tight, and hence i made the pusher comparison. that, and at the time i was probably spending 4 or 5 of my waking hours listening to squarepusher a day and musically it was all i really had on my mind :ok:

brianellis - cheers man, yeah, propoganda is about a year down the line from pearsquasher, and i was more comfortable with producing etc. so i could create something a bit more interesting. and I had made the switch from cooledit/fruity to cubase so i was revelling in the increased freedom that gave me! still didn't have a soundcard mind, hence the rather shitty quality of the bass recording in both tracks!

thanks very much to everyone that listened, i appreciate it muchly!

i enjoy the kick drum work throughout... its often forgotten that the takkylike kicks are what makes that amout of snare work.... great bass line too... especially the end

  • 3 weeks later...

really fucking beautiful work... i wish there would be an unfiltered, heavy amen entering at around 2:40, since i'm not a HUGE fan of the drums layering on top there.. but it's brilliant stuff anyway, great job!

meanwhile - the local maternity ward - nurse comes in with a great big sledgehammer

Yeah that WAS a great track... really nice progression. It's not squarepushery to the point of a ripoff... which of course, is a good thing.

Nothing really that I can think of to critique... it's a very nice track.

this somehow didn't hit my beauty-appreciation-nerve. it's got those UV keys that i love. i'd rather listen to tommib help buss or iambic 9 poetry. very similar sound but the melodies aren't as good (i don't even like UV that much, other than some of the melodies). EDIT: the melodies are good though

very impressive production.
