six
I'm pretty down with Dubstep these days although for every great track there is a ton of shit. chenGOD
The problem with it is exactly as someone else said in this thread. For every decent track (and i have yet to hear a dubstep/grime track that blew me away) there's sooo much shit to wade through. Scorn is great stuff, one of Autechre best remixes is on the Ellipsis album... Thanks Haha Confused Sad Facepalm Burger Farnsworth Big Brain Like × Quote Hide all signatures 백호야~~~항상에 사랑할거예요.나의 아들. Guest analogue wings
Just start with the Grime - the rappers only voice on the liveliest and most original dubstep riddims. Fin out who produced yr fave grime tracks and check out their other shit. Someone with a deep crate like yourself would make supar dubstep, I reckon. chenGOD
for me personally, I like some and don't like most of it. I can appreciate a good track/record (the milanese album for example..wow)...but the majority of it bores me. The one thing I always loled about with u-ziq's Gary's Gruesome Grime mix is that one track he plays that uses the "Good,Bad, and Ugly" preset from the M1 straight up... Substitute "EMu Planet Phatt" for "Korg M1" and welcome to 95% of Dancehall. Doesn't make the producers any less talented though. chenGOD
Not talking about the producers skill...just he used that preset in such a weird way, but it fit nicely. Guest TooMuchLush
You dont know what its all about till you go to a dance and hear it done on a soundsystem. All time best vibes. Never have I experienced such a wonderful & unique vibe than at a dubstep dance. Its the closest thing to soundsystem culture, and I'll have it!!! Check out a dubstep dance if possible! I've seen Joe Nice twice, and Distance and Pinch both in the same night (planet-mu artists) . Dont detest the powers of the DJ!!! I'd love to go to an actual dance in Kingston or Mobay, but I am white, so this would result in my getting stabbed. So dubstep will have to do. Atop
yes, a death metal drummer helped to invent good dubstep, with some other folk who didn't make nearly as good music, but are claimed as the inventors and if you can't hear the influence on his Hymen records then you're an idiot. There is so much amazing dubstep in my opinion, but the grime has the cheesiest presets ALL OVER IT, and no fucking punch to it with people rhyming about Brit pop culture shit! Virus Syndicate and Dizzee Rascal are all that really worth getting into, the rest bite balls, and three 6 mafia would hack them to pieces with machetes if they ever met...... look to grime first my ass! look to DMZ records, Tectonic, Tempa, Destruction, Dub Police, Clandestine Cultivations, Hyperdub, Planet Mu, Hotflush, Rephlex, Big Apple, Texture, Mordant Music, Boka,Halo Beats, Southside Dubstar, and some others I am forgetting....... I guess I haven't heard hardly any good grime because most of it sounds like clown music with terrible presets chosen for the beats and basslines and melodies.... Listen to the tracks I put up, that is what this music is all about! not fucking oi this and oi that and look at me Kappas bullshit, take that shit to south central LA and get your face blown off, no knives and billy clubs aloud.......Gangsta Boo will eat your face off! edit: no offense to anyone in here, this is all opinion....... chenGOD
See personally i would say that dubstep is much more a mixture of 2-step/d'n'b/trip-hop with some dubby compared to Scorn. But yeah those grimey guys crack me the hell up, they're rapping trying to be all hard and shit cause they heard The Chronic, what they didn't know is "on his own album covers he was a she-thing" and that Ice Cube was in the University of Arizona when he was recording Straight Outta Compton. Tupac never was a gangster, until he strated believing the hype. And the other day i was walking down the streets here and saw two young kids, maybe bout 15, one black, one white, clearly army brats. As i walk past the white kid busts out something about "him and his homie gs slinging rock"....I just bust out laughing... BUT: rephlex did put out 2 grime compilations....that started this whole thing off (in terms of poplarity) Thanks Haha Confused Sad Facepalm Burger Farnsworth Big Brain Like × Quote Hide all signatures 백호야~~~항상에 사랑할거예요.나의 아들.
