so how do they make these here crazy noise contraptions?

ya, i know. with computers. with hardware. with their girlfriends. whatever.

i thought that little snippit about the delay pedal on wikipedia was intriguing (even if it wasn't true... ah, wikipedia). is that in general what they're about? clever and novel use of the studio as an instrument, i suppose you could put it?

i've also heard the robot angle - setting the machines up to write the music, perhaps making a few key decisions themselves where necessary to keep things contained and focused.

is melody just incidental? i doubt that... so what's the deal there?

obviously music can get too technical, lack emotion... are they at all concerned with this aspect, or is it all intensely technical?

did they ever outline a general track workflow? i remember they said they rebuild their studio for every track, and i can get that - rerouting everything for whatever crazy machine cascade/loop they have in mind. any other notes besides that?

any good interviews/articles to read?
