prefuse = overrated.

indeed, all his work seems to be remaking "vocal studies...."

it's his trademark sound

i always thought that all the good ideas were on vocal studies and that was the problem, that the other albums were lacking in fresh ideas, all they had were changes in aesthetic, and the melodies all felt very predictable and comfortable (tho honestly I thought surrounded by silence was way better at combating that with all the guest contributions). but of course, I always found some track with a few good ideas in the new albums (like the second half of the one track I mentioned with the awful forgettable title, the first half is really a testament to everything wrong with new prefuse stuff).

but yeah I will agree that a lot of the stuff is pretty forgettable. but there are a few gems. I definently remember en blanco off the ep way more than a lot of the tracks that are actually on the album.

err, by agree i mean disagree. this would be better if he were ripping off the good ideas from vocal studies more often, I'd think, as opposed to be the sort of forgettable stuff you never'd have thought he'd be capable of, just hearing the first album.

but you obviously like the same shit rehashed

It's amusing to me how much you seem to care about whether or not other people like Prefuse.

By the way, you're one post away from 1337. Don't waste it!

i just love to hate as much as i love to love.

this time i choose hate

Fair enough - go on and start a thread about an artist you like, so that we all can poop on it

Am I the only person here to enjoy Preparations or what? Despite the album isn't very original, honestly.

I'm a big time hater since just after that 97-2000 ep on warp. The stuff b4 like savath & savalas was top notch in my estimation, but he got lame after that.

I actually don't mind the leaked lp, some of it is lame but it'll stay on my ipod for a few weeks before I delete it.

He is a strange musician because he' gets close to pulling off a nice tune and then he fucks it by fading some chick with a terrible voice.

I have a suggestion for p73 gorrila or whatever your name is, get a steady girlfriend, and focus on your music instead of trying to pick up babes. Dude sure does take a lot of pictures of himself wearing dipshit sunglasses. yo man focus on the music.

i hope that saying wasn't tooo much...sorry in advance

This is officially out in Europe now... I have to admit that while I'm a pretty big p73 fan this album comes off as a bit underwhelming. No bad, but mostly old hat. Smoking Red is the shit though.

Anyone heard the bonus album Interregnums? Sounds like it could be better than the album proper and make buying the whole thing worthwhile.

There's a warp microsite here - the free Megachopped Suite is actally pretty nice! Reminds me a lot of the Extinguished ep.

What's with all the Prefuse slagging? His production skills put most people to shame, and he keeps raising the bar at least in that regard. Give the guy some credit.

i agree with this dude. give him a break, all his production is tits!

i saw him last night at the scala (london) though, and the sound guy fucked it up, the sound was horrible. it really pissed me off.

literally, the first half sounded like noise with a hip hop beat.

then the second half he played some tunes from one word extinguisher (busy signal, plastic, perverted undertone) and extinguished (a couple of the middle tracks) and the sound was leveled out to a certain extent.

so i was happy.

he should sack the live drummer though, his processed beats sound far better. the drummer was only doing basic driving beats, and i couldn't hear any glitch.

i'll go and see him again if i get the chance, but it was a real let down this time.

gay.
