new BOC record is done

i suppose you can choose not to believe me, because i probably wouldn't, but i talked to a friend of mine from warp last night and he said the new boards album is already done. he hasn't heard it yet, so i have no news as to what it sounds like, but i'm guessing we can expect it fairly soon. exciting, no?

They are currently working on a new album (mentioned months ago), but it's unlikely they are done or anywhere near done. Even more unlikely is Boards telling somebody at WARP it's done.

If ever they are done working on a release, it mights be an EP. It does not take years to make, at my knowledge. I am aware they have always taken a lot of time for each release and that thread is surely fake, though. The only thing we are sure of is that Marcus and Michael are BOCing on something...

this is something a friend told me over a beer at a club. believe it or not, the people that run warp are friendly normal (reasonable) people that hang out in bars like everyone else. it's not like he tapped it out to me in morse code from scotland.

 

i'm relatively new to watmm, i like it, so i thought i'd share. i'm assuming they'll announce it in the near future. maybe you guys can give me a prize or something when it happens.

I like to give people the benefit of the doubt, so sorry about the type of responses we're prone to give here. Keep in mind that over 90% of this sort of thing often turns out to be a hoax or just incorrect, and it's inevitable that most users will be skeptical. I really do hope you're right about this, as new Boards is always a good thing. However, until some hard evidence presents itself, it's reasonable to assume jaded responses will constitute the majority.

 

My gut instinct is that, accurate or not, your intentions are good, so don't let any of this get to you man!

i appreciate the olive branch, but i'm certainly not offended at being doubted. or being called a fagghot. : (

 

i sort of migrated from atease, the radiohead board, so i'm used to seeing what happens when people talk about new information. i'm just trying to make the point that the music industry isn't as secretive and exclusive as it can seem from outside new york or LA or whatever. this isn't exactly classified information, anyway. if i was leaking the actual songs this early, then i'd be a little more nervous/sneaky. so rejoice in the good news.

maybe the guy at LA or New York Warp got it wrong. Sounds like a chinese whisper to me, maybe he heard someone saying they were working hard on it and it was nearly finished, and he just picked it up as its finished.

 

i doubt they had extra tracks from campfire. if they did i think they would have squeezed more tracks on that album, and left out farewell fire. :sleeping:

Just out of interest have you ever sent money to someone in Africa asking for assistance in getting hold of a great fortune that is currently being held in a bank account for some reason or other?

this is perfectly reasonable.

 

I think marcus was in one of our shops (here in Glasgow this time I think, rather than the usual visit to our Edinburgh shop) recently - so it's probably fair to say they're still 'doing tunes' at the moment as it were, or doing some form of music work. But, Campfire was such a departure from their previous outing of Geogaddi that there's probably a pile of material that was refined down to form Campfire, possibly leaving a load of stuff that could ultimately form another entirely different album ready for release whenever they or Warp felt the time was right.

 

This idea that there's some sort of magic hoodoo and witchcraft at work and that it surely must take a minimum span of years for the brothers to finish another opus is always a bit tedious. They could quite easily be sitting on a finished album - and may well have been since TCH came out. It's all speculation, but more importantly, it's all business for Warp too.

 

So if this guy says he had a conversation with a mate at Warp who in turn says BoC have an album sitting waiting for a slate date, who's to argue?

 

Maybe it's true.

 

Who cares..?

 

A new album will come out when it comes out. And I'm sure it will be fine and dandy, nothing in the past suggests anything otherwise.

 

this place feels like Area 51 sometimes.
