this is perfectly reasonable.

I think marcus was in one of our shops (here in Glasgow this time I think, rather than the usual visit to our Edinburgh shop) recently - so it's probably fair to say they're still 'doing tunes' at the moment as it were, or doing some form of music work. But, Campfire was such a departure from their previous outing of Geogaddi that there's probably a pile of material that was refined down to form Campfire, possibly leaving a load of stuff that could ultimately form another entirely different album ready for release whenever they or Warp felt the time was right.

This idea that there's some sort of magic hoodoo and witchcraft at work and that it surely must take a minimum span of years for the brothers to finish another opus is always a bit tedious. They could quite easily be sitting on a finished album - and may well have been since TCH came out. It's all speculation, but more importantly, it's all business for Warp too.

So if this guy says he had a conversation with a mate at Warp who in turn says BoC have an album sitting waiting for a slate date, who's to argue?

Maybe it's true.

Who cares..?

A new album will come out when it comes out. And I'm sure it will be fine and dandy, nothing in the past suggests anything otherwise.

this place feels like Area 51 sometimes.

My sentiments exactly. It's also worth noting that MHTRTC was almost entirely composed out of tracks that had been sitting around for a while, and was put together rather quickly when the deal went through with Skam.

the latter. the UK's largest chain, so we have plenty of contact with musicians across the board, from metallers to electronics... boc have been customers on occassion over a long period, especially of our Edinburgh store, and hopefully will continue to do so. As Mosca will recall though, divulging any info or details about what they have bought or are interested in is very bad practice of course... so nothing to share on that front I'm afraid. ;-) Lest Cob be on giving Joyrex a hard time.

By all accounts - very pleasant chaps anyway, been unfortunate not to have been in the appropriate stores at the right time to meet either of them personally up to this point. Maybe some day perchance.

anyhoo...

Exciting stuff, appreciate the more intelligent posts since I first read the thread. Big up top soundcontrol too as they really helped me out when I got my Korg last year (leeds branch) and I'm going to be purchasing more equipment there shortly hopefully

good to hear it. glad someone actually got good service...huzzah!

believe it or not, the people that run warp are friendly normal (reasonable) people that hang out in bars like everyone else. it's not like he tapped it out to me in morse code from scotland.

k. the guy that told me is half of the american side of the label. handles all the a&r stuff.

i am not bored, as you can see by my pathetic post count. it's entirely possible that a lot of the material that didn't fit on the campfire headphase morphed into a new album itself, isn't it?

You don't have to name any names, but can we see a copy of this statement? I'm well aware that this would be easy to fake, but might give us something more to go on, if your claim holds any water.

maybe the guy at LA or New York Warp got it wrong. Sounds like a chinese whisper to me, maybe he heard someone saying they were working hard on it and it was nearly finished, and he just picked it up as its finished.

i doubt they had extra tracks from campfire. if they did i think they would have squeezed more tracks on that album, and left out farewell fire.

Happy paddys week!! :clover:

Obviously u have never read the interviews from around the TCH era....they stated several times that they made tons of tracks in different styles..some even more electronic than usual and some more acoustic than usual that didnt fit the idea of TCH....so they decided to pick the tracks that fitted the style and concept of TCH...they even said that tehy made a lot of tracks that doesnt even sound at all like BOC ofcourse...and they also stated that the next album will be a CHOCK!.

Most artists works like that, makes a lot of tracks..some fit the album some dont..and we are not talking about that this track is better than that, only that some tracks doesnt fit the album at all......I wouldnt be suprised if they going to release something this year. They even said that they are going to release records more frequently (the last album took so long because they were building a new studio, Michael being a parent, traveling etc) but now they are back on track releasing TCH first and TCH EP back to back, sounding a bit different...wonder how the next album will sound :D and looking forward to it A LOT ofcourse :D Cant get enough of BOC! please release another albun soon :D

peace

Well, what he said is partially true... you'll just have to wait
Care to define "partially"? An album's being finished can't be partially true, since if it's only partially finished, it's not finished. Ah, boccy conundrums.

aha, but perhaps it's just a little EP that's finished. or a dvd. or a new swingset. SOMETHING could be finished!

Hmm...doesn't seem like BoC would release two EPs in a row, but you never know. A BoC promotional swingset would be brilliant though...quite a step up from the kalaedoscope.

My guess, from what's been said here so far, is that the music itself is finished, but the details have yet to be worked out (album art, etc). Just complete speculation on my part, though.

my super secret contacts tell me that the boc brothers are plotting a deadly comeback with tracks made totally from the sounds of a duel between a squirell, a bluetit and a badger, so intense was this battle (rumoured to have taken places somewhere in the pentland hills, of course) that the material collected from this event will take years to arrange and be turned into the next few boc albums.

Your foresight is indeed impressive, Mr. Tree.

I was told (quite some time ago when I was told they were already working on their next album) that they were working on new material - Now, whether that means it's new material for a new album, or taking existing material and tweaking it for a new release is still up in the air.

I reckon sometime this year we'll hear more about this new release...
