How serious are you?

I personally think I'll carry on making music for the rest of my life, I just love the emotional outlet, the experimentation and everything else that music brings.

Do you think you'll carry on?.. and if so, do you think you'll quit your job sometime and go full on into it? (that's if you haven't already)

fuck yeah, i think i'll be doing at least something music related for the rest of my life - maybe not professionally, but definitely as a hobby. i have been playing guitar for 17 years and making electronic music for ten years, i don't plan on stopping any time soon.. my longterm goal if i don't make it with my band is to become a session musician, i'm in the process of learning drums and fretless bass in addition to my skills on guitar, and i'm also going to learn notation again.. i think being good at drums and bass (especially fretless) would be a much sought after skill especially in this city.

but yeah, music is my life pretty much, not to say i'm entirely a "serious" musician, i do like to fuck around sometimes and laugh at how wanky some of my ideas are.

I've always wanted to make electronic music, way before I knew what it was or how it was done. I'm not going to get bored of it, either.

It's more of a hobby than anything else to me, and it will stay a hobby.

ive spent more money than i planned on it. whenever im serious with something i fuck it up so its just some thing i enjoy doing. if i ever release music it won't be overproduced

i started drawing but ive gotten tired of that after some years so i'm into music now

I'd say at first it was extremely non serious in that I'd blag out something, or maybe two songs, in a night when I really had no idea what I was doing and still exploring things.

As time went on, I think the process of writing self indulgent music (which less face it, most of us make whether we would like to admit it or not) got distorted along with some ego issues thrown into the mix,

I suppose now the only thing that keeps me writing music is the whole "my music still doesn't sound as good as I'd want it to so lets learn more" frame of mind.

Above all else, its still a hobby and always will be. I'm not gonna throw myself off a building over music.

music is my life and i'll be doing it for the rest of my life but i no longer want to "make it" or anything like that after painfully realizing how shitty a life that is, even though the appearance is very appealing. i just want to make good music and keep a good dayjob. fuck those kind of sporadic paychecks and instability.

Uhh, I go to music school, so yeah. Pretty serious about getting a job in the industry.

well, its what I do best, so if I dont do something in music, then Ill probably work crappy jobs for the rest of my life... so heres to hoping I can get somewhere with my music.

If not with my music, then Ill do something related, like commercial work, or ... something.

Dunno.

Sound design for media or music for advertising. I'm also becoming somewhat of a business chump...

i was pretty serious about music for a while. now i just play around with the gear i've amassed every once in a while when the mood strikes me.

Personally I don't think it's an expensive hobby in the actual sense of the word.

Once you have what you need, that is some synths/drum machines/sequencer/instruments, you can pretty much create anything.

I think that's a wise decision.

Flash websites will be the future, of course, css/html will still be used but flash is so advanced past everything else, so setting yourself up for it now is a good idea.

i have no idea but i guess i'll always have at least a guitar. and well i guess at some point you don't feel the need to express yourself thru music. it'll just become a "normal" pleasure...
