Rome - the series

I tried to get into it. It was like the second and third season of Deadwood without revolvers. I got bored of it.

just watched the first season, really liked it, but then again i'm a history major. will watch the second season soon.

goddamn i just finished this show and it's gotta be one of the best ever. if you haven't seen it and you have any interest in ancient history at all, it is a must watch. fucking fantastic in every way. it was one of the most expensive TV shows ever produced and it shows in every scene. the and the story is so wonderfully packed with drama and action... never a wasted moment. and for those complaining about gratuitous sex and violence, open a history book, because that's what rome was really like.

p.s. titus pullo would kick jack bauer or chuck norris or batman or whoever's ass into the next millenium.

I'm about 8 episodes or so into this and so far it's quite good. It lacks the subtlety of, say, a BBC drama (though it's been a long, long time since I saw "I, Claudius") but I like the friendship between Titus and Lucius. Ray Stevenson is a very charismatic actor; both those characters are well cast.

As for any sex and violence, what are you guys talking about? The violence is minimal and the sex feels sexy. Seems pretty accurate to me, and not overdone.

Enjoying it...plus the theme is catchy and the dvd title screens are brilliant, lol. Sometimes it's the little things.
