what limits you

I lack the ability to keep the awesome, totally fantastic wonderful ideas I get while I'm away from my computer fresh on my mind, and when I do, I usually lack the drive to actually implement them, so then I get half-assed efforts that sound a tenth of whatever I had in mind. Adderall's helping with that, though.

yes! i have that problem too. the other day i came up with some awesome ideas for a track at work and then when i got home i couldn't figure out how to do it, plus i was so drained from work i couldn't do anything but internets//

and skytree - been loving your new stuff in the car this past few days. no track names, but there's a couple i really dig.

moving country without my laptop.

other than that, not much. i had everything set-up, ready to get ideas out easily. like all basic types of synth/fx patches saved, uninspiring built-in presets removed, drum sounds well organised, presets set to all 0 ready for preset making etc. didnt finish many tracks tho cause i prefer the process of starting.

same problem as tauboo. for every track i finish theres about 30 that are sort of just languish as sketches. I guess starting a track is sort of just like playing and finishing one is actually work for me. i've got plenty of time, just can't finish 'em.

time and attention span

sometimes for me I think of things but dont have motivation to finish it

because i always think of a new idea that is better

i often try to get others to join in my effort but most people are too busy with their own ideas and or masturbation

What I need is a lack of lack...

an abundance of abundance u need

i usually don't preconcieve what i'm going to do musically, i just start fucking around with sounds and playing on a keyboard or clicking in drum beats or whatever and things come to me that way, certain notes or sounds just click and inspire other things. so i'm kind of at the mercy of if it's "happening" or not. plus i have a short attention span for making music if it's not happening and lately it doesn't last long so i might get inspired to create one track i really like, maybe 2, then fizzles out and nothing sounds right/i don't know where to go from there.

1: Time

2: Not wanting to stare at the computer for more than 10 hours a day - (8 at work)

3: Girlfriend

4: Intimidation from the big kids on the schoolyard

5: The Tuss

HOLY SHIT, ME TOO!! The ds is perfect for pulling out at a theater or something and quickly recording some humming or quickly programmng a beat.

also, distortion from my sound card fucks up every line-in i use.

and i've been using buzz for the last 5 or 6 years now and it's getting a bit limited for me, in terms of programming and synthesis...so i've been learning max/msp for a few months now, hence lack of musical output at the moment....

that i cant use reaktor as plugin in max/msp

I have a problem with space in my music. I feel like I have to stuff it full of as many beats and weird changes as I can so people don't get bored with it. I have a problem building on one pattern for long enough to be entranced by it.

I actually have an mp3 player with a mic so I just hum it and save it. Helps a lot.
