Guest Oorto Geld
The titles came with the files. Their legitimacy is questionable (as is the case with pretty much all pre-Twoism material), but the track names sound pretty BoC-esque to me. I think that I like #19 because it's so dissimilar to any other BoC track (probably why I like 'House of Adin'abab' too, although the wobbly synth used it that track does remind me of 'Twoism') Anyway, here are the track names that came with the files: 01 - Stained Glass Window 02 - She Is P 03 - Parallax Radio 04 - Valeridon Beat-Bop 05 - Finity 06 - Maynard 07 - Cable Convolution 08 - My Heterotopia 09 - Fiz 10 - Excused 11 - Talgyha 12 - Deep Dive 13 - I Look Upon 14 - Nocturnal Roundabout 15 - I Will Get It Tattooed 16 - At The Embankment 17 - Key To The Lock 18 - House of Abin'adab 19 - So I Says 20 - Helukshnicht 21 - Cement 22 - Playtime 23 - Glacier Meltdown 24 - Nod 25 - Arrange Me Strange 26 - Theo's Piece 27 - Petua 28 - Davie Addison 29 - It's How You Move 30 - Aspheric Universe 31 - Czar 32 - Drone Pattern 33 - Onwards, Jetta 34 - White Van 35 - Wheat Dreams Edited May 19, 2006 by Oorto Geld Quote Link to comment https://forum.watmm.com/topic/2118-your-top-10-boc-tracks/page/3/#findComment-173695 Share on other sites
lumpenprol
Thanks. Guest Oorto Geld
Yeah, I've seen the infamous fakes flying about: 'Lavender Trapezoids', and things like that. Anyway, yeah, I have my suspicions about their authenticity...but I've gotten so used to associating the tracks with those names, that I just tend to real 'em off. Oh well...if they are authentic, then that's great. If not...well, it's easier for me to remember those titles, rather than refer to a song as 'Track X'. Yeah those names do seem pretty fan-made. Yet, i don't know, i've never seen those titles before, yet they're more like excluded tracks from Selected Ambient Works Vol. 2. Guest Moebius
Hmm, I'm also rather suspicious of those names. Even esoteric BoC names usually are a references to something, yet Talgyha and Helukshnicht (a combination of inuit and german?) have no hits on Google, and Valeridon has just one which is a typo for Philippe Saisse's album Valerian. Guest Oorto Geld
Alright, folks, there's been a bit of a (confusing) development: I compared the track durations on Fredd-e's site to those that I have on my system, and there were some inconsistencies. I found the 'Untitled' version of 'Old Tunes Vol 1.' on Soulseek, and some songs on it were different to the ones that I had (I'm assuming that these are the files that you guys have?). Anyway, there were four tracks that were different. I'll post 'em up here to see if any of you can identify them. Guest Oorto Geld
Apologies for the double post (wouldn't let me edit my other message for some reason). They're all pretty small in size and length (bitrates vary, too): Your browser does not support the HTML5 audio tag Unknown #1 -- Reminds me of 'Aquarius'. Uses a sample from 'On A Rolling Sea'. Sounds genuine. Your browser does not support the HTML5 audio tag Unknown #2 -- Sounds like a heavily distorted siren of sorts. Probably fake. Your browser does not support the HTML5 audio tag Unknown #3 -- Sounds very similar to 'Energy Warning'. Sounds genuine enough. Your browser does not support the HTML5 audio tag Unknown #4 -- Reminds me of Track #34 from (the genuine version of) 'Old Tunes Vol. 1'. Could be fake.
