Gesamtkunstwerk I tend to prefer to keep the basslines way down around 50-60hz and the 808 slightly above, because I feel it retains the punch of the kick better, but your mileage may vary! I use a big old ghetto blaster to check my subs, but i don't think it's very accurate + sub bass reverberates terribly in my studio (no soft furnishings you seeee!)
