Contacted Joyrex about possibly making some changes around here, to reduce the relative dysfunction we've all started to take for granted.

Its mainly to with their obsessive fanbase being a gang of subversive little fannies.

Long before the subforums was set up, BoC discussion was in General Banter, and was usually limited to interesting and informative discussions by the watmm massif, however (and as big a fan I am of the subforums) the seclusion of BoC discussion to a seperate place attracted a large influx of n00bs and creepily obsessive teens claiming to have a copy of Hooper Bay, or 'discovering' hidden lyrics inside songs. Now we're all new to the music at some point but this kind of activity is kind of irritating and becomes an easy target for the more seasoned watmmer.

I'm a HUGE fan of BoC, but I feel like this forum is composed of a bunch of half-wits who can't simply RESEARCH posting idiotic threads constantly, then having their heads bitten off by the other members! Its just a lose/lose situation here!

Also I sense a great difference in style, message, and fanbase with all the other featured artists.

i only heard BoC 10 years ago... does that make me a n00b?

of course not. And I'm not trying to put down the newcomers to BoC that want to know more. But instead of just posting threads asking questions that have been answered 50 billion times, they should be a bit resourceful and try and find the answer themselves first.

the question wasn't nessesarily directed at anyone, just the fact that i have under 100 posts, thats all :stuart:

i find the inane discussions that sometimes (okay, often) happen around here as frustrating as the next guy but, c'mon, it's not like its the end of the world. whatever happened to tolerance? the problem with this subforum is that it is, imho, divided into two groups of people who want to have two different kinds of discussion. the self-proclaimed "mature" old hands who have all read the fredd-e/davidac pages, and the, um, let's call them the "twoism-transplants" who think they've found a legit copy of hooper bay and have insider info on the next album. ideally some social pressure, correctly applied, could stem the influx of the latter and the former could go on talking about whatever the hell it is they want to talk about. but, instead, the old hands have little to discuss and the twoism-transplants have gone wild in the vacuum. so if you consider yourself part of the first group and want to take back this subforum then i say the thing to do is make a concerted effort to have the kinds of discussions you want to have - set the tone around here or someone else will do it for you.

and, btw, i think skytree should get some credit for trying to do this already by bringing up the "rules before posting" thread the other day.

Its been way too long since BoC actually did anything that we knew about. I don't think they want any fans. Maybe we should just forget about them and just pretend they are like Jim Morrison - disappeared.

I don't see what's so hard about it - ignore the stupid crap and focus on the good threads. It doesn't help matters when people feel a need to add useless "omg what a stupid thread" replies, even if the thread is stupid.
