Venetian Snares - My Downfall

Oh yeah I really enjoy terminal 11. I'm not sure I have heard much xanopticon. Terminal 11 is unique enough to not replace snares though.

nero's day at disneyland is pretty good in that vein. I think he's going to get stuff out on cockrockdisco soon, but he's on myspace now.

and man I only kinda like venetian snares now, and it's so confusing to see people who hate him who are more obsessed with him than I ever was.

Its almost too unpleasant to go into Snares threads because of all the uncalled for sniping from people with wimpy ears. I don't go into new release threads if I don't like the artist, how come people feel the need to come in here and post shit talk?

PS: Anyone know if this Terminal 11 has made it into any shops in the US or do I have to order it online?

its just a staple of messageboard culture that people do that. is more annoying though when its so fervently done against snares.

I have to admit I can't quite understand the sniping and hostility towards VS in this thread, which is sort of what I was trying to get at with my earlier post. I think such negative comments maybe belong elsewhere on WATMM.

Terminal 11 is fucking awesome. Additions to arsenal is my favorite album by him. Stay tuned for a Terminal 11 release on RLR next year.

i think it's that other tier of the 'electronic music'/experimental electronica community, the ones who are disillusioned and perhaps threatened by the whole breakcore thing... snares is to breakcore what aphex is to 'electronic music'. it's also easy to polarise snares' music into 'genius' or 'erratic mess'. soberiety is needed!

Erratic genius maybe? Erratic in terms of style though, not quality I'd say. I've only fairly recently properly cottoned on to Snares, but even from the releases that I have listened to (still a fair few) it's obvious that he's got a greater range than some people give him credit for.

bad word, i wouldn't even say RDJ is a genius. the word gets thrown around all the time, snares is just an incredibly unconventional talent.

i think when any artist puts out work that is totally amazing and ground breaking... and then puts out disappointing albums... the emotional backlash, the "HOW CAN YOU DO THIS TO ME" let down is bound to happen.

also... there was a lot of snares stuff that was very different to the ear in the early days... but after having heard it for a while, it didn't necessarily stand up to the test of time... and so, many people who liked it back then don't really like it all that much now.

for me... i've grown skeptical of snares releases... but it would be hard to say the guy hasn't put out anything good of late... and, his best work (in my mind Rossz Csillag Alatt Szuletett) was only released two years ago... which, for old folks, isn't really that long ago...

if only he would put out LESS work... (damn, if only RDJ had the same issue)...

regardless, i'll be listening incessantly to my downfall samples with hopes that it'll be a great purchase... and maybe even reading an opinion or two on the web, MAYBE even here, if people can actually forget the sausage-fest sword fight and stick to writing intelligently about the music....

But Snares doesn't even put that much out any more... compare his 2006/2007 output to the huge amount of stuff he put out in 2003...

Manhattan. There are a few stores here that cover eletronic music. Other Music is the one I visit the most often.

edit: However, I'd be willing to be that even the best shops in the US don't hold a candle to the ones they have in the UK.

yeah seriously, people should stop listening to snares and listen to xanopticon instead ... he does the breakcore+electronic music thing better than anyone

terminal 11? wtf, entirely differen't IMO. Xanopoticon? I haven't heard much but very distant from the bit I've heard. NERO'S DAY AT DISNEY LAND? are you kidding me? he has such an original completely different sound than vsnares. A bunch of his stuff isn't even really breakcore. (not classical stuff minus the breakcore either)

i dont even know or care what the limits are on the definition of breakcore, I just think fast things are cool.
