Amen Warrior
Did anyone catch the tune squarepusher played with his vocoded singing on it? The lyrics were brilliant. "you are real you exist you are important" etcetc I enjoyed that immensely in my fucked up state. I can't think of what i enjoyed the most. Anyone that caught vibert in the pub, what was the jungle tune that he played at the very end? The one with the '45 automatic' sample in it? I have a feeling i should know it...but dont. The person that took our spare ticket was this japanese bird, said she had friends over here. Turns out her friends over here were vibert and libby doubtful guest, something which we didn't exploit NEARLY enough. Or at all in fact. Oh well. Guest behindthebeats
stingray was up there with the best set of the weekend. he played for 1.5hrs and was tight as fuck. i recorded the first hour on my sony hd camera. expect some distortion on the bass though as the funktion soundsystem was impossible to get away from. will be good enough for track id's though. i also recorded the whole of squarepushers set (although apart from a few standout tracks i thought he was poor. his new material sounds worse than hello everything but you can judge for urselves as the quality of that recording is good). bogdan was wicked (recorded that too). fucking shame about dopplereffekt absolutely gutted. i also recorded full sets from bochum welt and d'arcangelo from the bloc weekender. expect mediafire uploads in the next few weeks when i get around to digitising all the dv tapes. I only caught the last half hour of his set, was so gutted because every single track he played was incredible. There were like 50 people there, don't know how many of them were rephlex heads but everyone seemed pretty blown away. Seriously if anyone knows how to get in touch with him for some kind of a setlist do it please please please. He literally ran out of the room at the end of the set possibly because I must have been eyeing him up. Anyway... highlights for me were Squarepusher, Vibert (x3), Ceephax, Modeselektor, Mala and Kode 9. Other highlights -guy being led around in a gimp mask on a leash barking at 5pm friday. -Being at the beach for sunrise and sunset on saturday - I actually managing to get sun burned (which I don't normally even get in hot countries), from spending that whole glorious day tripping my balls off in the sun. -Finding out that the room opposite us (which was lush because it was set up for disabled use), was empty and using it as a squat. -The insane, cheap availability and complete, disgusting social acceptance and glorification of any drug you could possibly want. -The attitude of the security, who I only ever saw being helpful, and who would walk quickly away after telling you to put out a spliff, so you could relight it again. One guy had some kind of heatstroke/OD thing outside our flat, and the security came over to help and then took the piss out of him as soon as he'd recovered, without even a hint of searching him or his mates. -Bangface TV, several classic moments as I remember, although I can't for the life of me remember what they were. Only things, I was incredibly gutted I didn't make it to Dopplereffekt, anyone see it? Also little bit let down by Bogdans set, guess it was probably because I don't know him that well and he didn't play anything I recognised. Solo Strike
Doppler didn't play as they had a broken synth. I was rather disappointed with Bogdan, it seemed like all he was doing was playing individual tracks in Traktor or something, occasionally pausing to put a beatmasher effect over the top badly. Didn't translate well live IMO, which is a shame as the last time I saw him a Bangface I really enjoyed his set. I think he played most of Alright, his new album. Guest boki
It's pretty much all a blur to be perfectly honest (much like the shirt I was getting people to attack with flourescent markers on Sunday). Pool party was great fun, Ceephax's pub DJ set was hilarious, what I caught of Vibert's Sunday set in the main room was great but I found it hard to spend much time up there 'cos of the heat. mu-ziq on Saturday night had plenty of Lunatic Harness stuff and was therefore awesome. blahblahblah I don't feel like doing anything else ever again. I'm totally funned-out. Quote Link to comment https://forum.watmm.com/topic/24814-bangface-weekend/page/5/#findComment-718578 Share on other sites

Solo Strike
Snares kicked my fucking arse, he played shitloads of unreleased stuff (loads off Detrementalist, loads of stuff newer than that)... then went into Rossz, finishing with some of his more abrasive stuff like Skelechairs and Doormouse Megamix. Fucking quality. If they do one next year, I'd recommend flying in for it to any of you foreign types. Literally that good.
