its not that, its just that in order to turn a wet turd into a decent piece of music, you have to listen to it exstensively. i would rather spend my time plucking out my pubes with the beak of a live blue tit that listen to that piece of music ever again. im not complaining, im just waiting for the next one.

So I think for the next one, we should have a really inviting song that a lot of people will find easy to remix. Maybe some kind of "classic" album track that has gotten the deluxe treatment, where box sets have come out with indivdual tracks seperated. Like something from the beatles, or the beach boys. I dunno, just a thought, I will do whatever ends up being picked.

Even though there will only be about 5 entries this time out, there will still be lots of interest when the site goes up and the voting starts.

yeah aw you're right. when I made that suggestion I had the idea that Joyrex was picking another track so that people presumably wouldn't have to wait till march 1st or whenever voting is finished to start the next remix. But this month already feels pretty much over to me, yeah I dunno where I got that idea as it's clearly not happening. Whoever wins should absolutely use their own crazy ass reasoning for whatever track they picked. My line of reasoning lead me to Raymond Scott - Don't Beat Your Wife Every Night, because on the manhattan research, inc release there's an instrumental version of it too, and that basically plays out like a sample pack of awesome analogue synth stuff. Just so many fragments of sound that need electronic music songs built around them, it just seems perfect. And yeah I know dilla sampled that album on donuts but whatever, he didn't use this track at all (to my knowledge). It's too bad my track isn't "winner" material, but whatever, Raymond Scott is pretty awesome.

Still happening, just busy with freelance work to bother with it - when you code all day for a living, and do it at night for extra income, it gets hard to find time to do more of it. Sorry for the delays.

Yeah, not likely to happen as planned right now. Too deep in freelance work to fit in the time. I really want to do this, and feel bad Blicero spent the time he did setting the site up and coding it. We WILL do it, just I have no free time right now to devote to it.

why not just have a thread with a poll for this one. then maybe the site can properly launch with that vote settled and the winner from that having picked a track.

i agree. people who have been here for a while have seen this before:

- joyrex announces initiative

- it gets delayed

- joyrex says he's still working on it, it will be ready soon

- it fails *

e.g. watmm vol 2 (site was being worked on, then fail), this remix thing (see this thread), watmm vol 1 (ok so it did come out, but years and years late)

note that recent non-failing projects coming out of watmm have been organised by the members themselves:

- deep sea creatures yo

- watmm lifetime compilation

- project 168 (major win 3 times, possibly more in future)

- beardstep compilation

so ... you'd be better off organising this remix thingy among yourselves - you just need a few polls and threads, you dont even need a website necessarily.

So the "remix contest" really just means Radiohead get tons of money from a bunch of morons paying to download this shit, and then they get to put up some track that the latest shit myspace craze retards spit up. it's just free parts avail for everyone to fuck with

or use the foal ones from last fm

or use the jamie lidell acapella and create your own tracks

it seems everyone was upset to not have a set of base tracks from a song to work with

there are many now.

and the remix contest would just happen here on watmm

for watmm folks to hear and give props

and someone here walks with bragging rights

noone gets rich off of it

and it goes back to being what the original intent was of bringing up the idea

for fun
