Beg to differ. Well, not quite begging (on my hands in knees). I just don't think Windowlicker is the most innovative. Well, the composition isn't anyway especially the beat. The best version is Run Jeremy's which cuts straight to the best bit (which still reminds me of the acid bit in Black Dog's 'Psil-cosyin' about 8 mins in minus the Egyptian trumpet sound). What is innovative these days Seeing as pretty much everything has been done before in some way or another? For its time Aphex's earlier work (early 90s) is probably the most innovative in that he had to work within limitations of his equipment. Ideas were new then and Aphex had a unique sound that others then copied and got inspired by. Tracks like Dodeccaheedron, Inkey$, Garden of Linmiri and AFX237 V7 still stand out for me as 'innovative' in that in those tracks he sounds like nobody else.
