The actual music-sample usage by BOC from other people's work is really not very much at all, and in any case is quite explicitly obvious when it has been done; examples include the beat and bassline in the 7" single version of "Aquarius" (which the band then re-created from scratch for the album version, using real bass and percussion), and the beat in the 12" version of "Nlogax".

 

I was wondering how they'd managed to sample 'Hair' without all the trumpets.

It's from the intro of a particular version where the trumpets there are none.

Interesting stuff from mdg, as ever. I didn't know the 7" version differed to the album version in that way.

the "sample" is obviously going to be Turquoise Hexagon Sun....

they just have to take the whole track (add nothing, take away nothing...maybe add some more 2007 rnb style percussion things and fade out a bit earlier than the real one)....lazy rnb producers...

I heard from a reliable source that Beyonce's slutty sister sampled Magic Window.

If you amplify Magic Window enough times in Audacity, you will actually get a monologue by David Firth. If not, your copy is a 2005 re-press.
