Fake Closes vol 1.

This is currently up on what.cd with people claiming it's genuine.

Can anyone confirm it's fake??

Ive listened to it now. Its a cut up of old tunes songs.

1-5, 7, 9-13, 15-17 are various tracks from the old tunes series

6 is a fake (by someone)

8 is a hideous remix mess of trails

14 is a hideous remake of Roybgiv that was posted here a few months back

theres loads of tracks from this (and in my version) that also appear in Old Tunes.

Numerator sounds like an early version of roygbiv. or perhaps a cover of it.......

I ran each of these tracks through the command line fingerprinter by last.fm (handy tool)

It works by calculating a unique fingerprint for each track, then looking up that fingerprint in a database to see what other tracks with the same fingerprint were tagged as.

* Bit of explanation on the unknown ones:

Track 6, 8 and 14 have only ever been fingerprinted as "Focus on the Sprial", "Close2" and "Numerator Original" (from this fake collection). Track 14 is a fan remake of "Rogybiv", and mcbpete above says he recognises track 8 as something non-BoC.

Tracks 10 and 17 are too short for the fingerprinter to process properly.

It's my favourite of all the BoC fake stuff, I wanted to know the real track names.

You will never see any pre-Twoism releases on Ebay (legit ones at least) - they are in the hands of too few individuals who wouldn't sell them or make copies.

I think, after what Aphex Twin did to his unreleased material, they're too afraid of their tracks being completely disjointed, named after weird Cornish gods with long names, and panned across 8 sides of unrecycled vinyl (which contradicts with BoC's environmental aproach).
